While Katie and Mike were overjoyed to have a baby in their lives, they eventually found out having a baby wasn't a lot of fun. Feeding Kellie was more of a chore than it ought to be and changing his diaper was... something best not to contemplate on. Still, it brought them joy to play with their son.
However, there is one problem that both of them had trouble dealing with. Kellie, like many babies, could sleep through the whole night without needing to be fed or changed. Multiple times in the night, Katie and Mike were woken up by their baby's cries.
Katie groaned as the racket in the other room woke her up. "Mike, it's your turn," she moaned.
"Just a few more minutes," groaned Mike.
"Kellie's not going to be any quieter," said Katie.
Mike sighed and said, "Fine..." before getting out of bed. He headed to his son's nursery to check on the crying baby. "Ok, what is it this time?" he asked tiredly, "Katie just fed you so you can't be hungry." He picked up his son gingerly and noticed his belly was pretty plump. "She forgot to burp you, didn't she?" asked Mike with annoyance. He patted Kellie on the back before the baby let out a burp.
Mike sighed and started rocking Kellie, humming gently until his son was nodding off again. Mike put Kellie back in his crib and quietly walked out of the room. "Please keep quiet until morning," he whispered, "I can't wait until you're old enough to sleep through the whole night."
Mike hadn't intentionally meant to use his ring's power. He and Katie felt that Kellie ought to have a normal childhood instead of being rushed through his like they had with theirs. But right then, Mike was so groggy, he didn't care what he said and just wanted to get back to bed. He crawled into bed next to Katie and was soon out like a light.
Kellie was also sleeping peacefully. So peacefully, he didn't notice the changes happening to him. He was growing larger, though not at a fast pace. His feetie pajamas were growing with him, adjusting to a less babyish design. Beneath them, his diaper was changing into training pants. His crib also grew before the bars shrank down, giving Kellie more space. Pretty soon, he had his own little bed. His room was also changing, some of the toys being replaced, the changing table disappearing, and a small wardrobe appearing.
When the changes stopped, Kellie was now a 4-year old little boy and his room reflected that. He was still a toddler, but he wasn't a helpless infant. He was big enough to sleep through the night without worrying about accidents. The ring could have made Kellie older, but that would mean he'd be conceived at a much more awkward age for his parents. But none were aware of this now and they won't be until morning.
