"More than anything... I wish to be a mermaid. To be able to play in the sea, to sing on rocks, and wear strings of pearls, to explore coral reefs and sunken pirate ships. And to fall in love with a handsome prince...." Iris sighed, smiling. She looked at Goldenrod. "Can you do all that?" she asked. Goldenrod smiled.
"Absolutely, Iris. You will be made into a mermaid of the Atlantean kingdom. You will have always lived this life, but if you tire of it, or start to miss your old life, call to me and I can change you back. You saved my life and there is nothing I want more than to make you happy, Iris. Are you ready?" Goldenrod responded. Iris nodded, a grin growing onto her face.
"Yes, absolutely!" Iris exclaimed.
"Then let us begin," Goldenrod told her. She closed her eyes and began to chant something, words that Iris was having trouble understanding. A wave of golden sparkling dust began to swirl around Iris, eventually obscuring everything around her. Iris gasped as she felt the ground beneath her fall away, though she herself did not feel like she was falling, instead like she had been gently picked up. A strange tingling feeling went all over her body as her clothing dissolved into the same golden dust. Iris' hair fell down from where it had tied up, flowing beautifully around her.
The tingling feeling increased, becoming a sort of wonderous pleasure. Iris gasped and shuddered as the golden dust started to swirl around the lower half of her body, and over her chest. The feeling in her legs began to weaken, until she could not feel her feet at all. The dust around her legs subsided, revealing a gorgeous, glittering blue fish's tail where her legs once were. The dust around her chest subsided as well to reveal a dark blue seashell bra, which despite the looks was incredibly comfortable on her body.
The air began to feel somewhat chilly and wet, until she felt like she were underwater, her hair beginning to float beautifully in the "sea", yet she could still breathe despite the odd feeling. Soon, the dust settled and began to vanish, and Iris was now swimming in a little grotto, with a sort of cave house that vaguely resembled her original home, and a rock that jutted out towards the surface nearby the entrance to the house.
Iris looked down at herself. In addition to making her into a lovely mermaid, the transformation had tweaked the body of her human half slightly. Her waist was thinner and hips wider, her chest slightly bigger as well. It was the sort of idealized proportions she always wished she could be able to have.
She looked between the house and the surface rock, looking around and trying to decide what to look at next.
