While Mari went off to answer the call to give all the help that she could, Jamie the Rabbit continued to try and convince the two security personnel that had accompanied the Mari, Jamie, and Teddy when they entered the Phoenix Hospital to see Teddy's sister before she gave birth that they had seen an imp come out of nowhere and kill a horse before turning into a puppet or a zombie or something that still shook Jamie all the way to his bones. They didn't believe Jamie and it was starting to be frustrating to him.
"Please, you must see I'm telling the truth!" Jamie said to them, "it came out of no where and killed a horsey."
"Uh-huh," one said slowly, "you do realize that many have had the same fear of Baby Furs."
"But we don't kill people!" Jamie protested, "all we want to do is make friends and have fun."
Jamie was completely honest in that, but neither security man thought the seriousness of the warning wasn't real. After all, every thing they've seen indicated that Baby Furs spent most of their time playing or going through what amounted to a parody of grown up life as children could approximate it. To them it was simply kids being kids and pretending and on some level losing what had made the people they were lose what they were. However, since the three Baby Furs that had arrived had promised not to do anything "bad" or transform anyone, they remained rather tolerant of them.
"Please," Jamie finally said, finding nothing else on his own that could get them to believe him.
"Kid, with all the stuff that's gone on, until we see it..." the first security man spoke slowly.
"See it..." Jamie said slowly, not knowing he was interrupting. Then Teddy's camera came to mind. That got Jamie's mind going, as if he still had that camera and had caught the imp's arrival on camera, they might be able to show these security men the imp's arrival and then they can't not believe what Jamie had been telling them. He then raised his hand with his pointer finger pointed up, "Hold on a moment."
He then turned and moved into the room where Teddy was with his sister, her husband, and their new baby. He found them all either in or around the bed that Teddy's sister was in. Teddy sat beside his sister on the bed and looked down at the infant as the baby suckled from Teddy's sister's breast. Teddy's brother in law stood next to the bed near where Teddy was sitting, ready just in case something odd was about to threat the newborn baby.
"Teddy, do you still have your camera?" Jamie asked as he looked up to where Jamie was sitting.
"Yeah," Teddy answered with a raised eyebrow.
"Did you catch that demon girl we saw on the way here?" Jamie asked, "the one that killed the horsey."
Teddy's sister and her husband's eyes widened in surprise at the mention of the imp, particularly with Jamie described the imp as a "demon," but for the moment things stayed calm.
"I did... are you wanting to warn the not-friends about them?" Teddy asked.
"We'd need to," Jamie spoke, "if she would just kill a horsey... who's to say what else she would do."
Teddy nodded and lifted his arms up to his brother-in-law. The man shrugged and lifted him up and then set him down in front of Jamie. Teddy looked back over his shoulder to his sister and her family, and Teddy's sister noticed a nervous and almost fearful look in Teddy's eyes.
"I'll explain once we can get the guards to believe," Teddy said slowly.
He then followed Jamie out to find the two hospital security guards still standing guard. Teddy and Jamie approached them together while Teddy fished his camera out of his diaper. The two guard's made a cringe at that.
"It's clean," Teddy spoke and held up the plastic device so that they looked at the side of it. The guards watched with some degree of skepticism. It looked like a plastic toy movie camera with large view-screen on its side, and specifically the side they were looking at. In many ways they didn't think it would work, but as Teddy ran his fingers over the etchings that looked like buttons on the side of the camera and periodically made a beep or boop to sound like a button being pressed, the screen seemed to flash as if had a tape that was rewinding. It eventually starting moving forward again and playing like any other camera could.
Neither guard could take their eyes off it as it showed horse being approached by what looked like a young girl. It was older than a Baby Fur, but not an adult. They then watched what Jamie, Teddy, and Mari had seen earlier as the imp had killed the horse and rode off with it like it was a puppet. Neither guard could disregard the story Jamie had told them now and in that they agreed that it wasn't a Baby Fur.
"That's not a Baby Fur," the first guard said to the other as he began to shrink down.
"Yes," the second agreed, "it was bad."
Both began shrink down, as they pondered Jamie's warning, as though Baby Furs might be the only things that could stop things like that demon. Their shirts and belts began to loosen while fur began to cover their bodies and the features began to soften. First their shirts fell off and then Jamie and Teddy could see more. The first guard was growing black fur with tan brown accents while the second was all black. The first's ears became triangular and moved to the top of its head. The second's ears were also triangular, but unlike the first's whose ears stood erect the second's ears soon hung down toward the ground.
Their adult muscles shrank down as they seemed to get younger and more animal features began to appear. Nubby claws pushed out from their finger tips and toes, but weren't sharp . They then began to raise up onto the balls of their feet as they took on a digitigrade stance, but even with that their softer features and reduced stature took both guards down to the point where they were the same size as Teddy and Jamie. Both guards then grew rather canine tails and muzzles before blue diapers wrapped around their hips and covered all their "equipment," though Baby Furs didn't really think about things like sex. And Baby Furs was what they became, responding to what they saw and reacted, almost subconsciously channeling Teddy and Jamie's powers. They had taken on all the features of Baby Furs with the appearance of being furry canine toddlers. The two of them blinked to each other and then to Teddy and Jamie. They then introduced themselves.
"I'm Marty the German Shepard," the first guard spoke.
"I'm Simon the Labrador Retriever," the second spoke.
"Sorry for not believing you before," Marty and Simon both said together.
"It's okay," Jamie answered, the past discussion forgotten.
"Is there a way we can get these demons stopped?" Simon asked.
"Ultimately to make friends," Teddy said simply.
