Bets didn't want to splash water or join a water game like the other kids. She was sad knowing that she wouldn't be able to dive into the deep end of the real pool for a long time.
The water was so cool and wet that something was happening to Bets without her knowing. She wasn't paying attention, but a red cloud was forming around her in the pool.
The other little kids were chanting, "Pool wetter. Pool wetter." Then Bets realized what was going on.
She just peed in the kiddie pool!
After hearing the chanting and seeing the red cloud, the same lifeguard rushed back to little Bets. "Sweetie, did you go wee-wee in the water?"
Bets wanted to say, "Of course I did; what does it look like?" but instead she said, "Yes, mam."
"Do you wear swim diapers?" the lifeguard asked.
"I was given some, but I didn't think I needed them," Bets truthfully replied.
"Well, you'll need to wear them from now on, sweetie. Because if you pee in the water again, you'll have to leave the swimming pool forever. Okay?"
"Yes, mam."
