Nobody knew why Joe could suddenly become so skilled at organizing Mieni Atoll, but plenty of theories abounded. The most common one was that after spending most of his un-uplifted time picking up scraps from other predators, his new status had filled him with the fires of ambition to make something of his new, longer life.
Already he was showing great talent and skill at running Animalia Resort and Nature Preserve, even going so far as to form a kind of 'council' for running the business. He had also gotten in contact with Cruise Line businesses in both Hawaii/California and Australia to use Mieni Atoll as a kind of waypoint between the two nations. But ever since Jane, a fellow uplifted pilot fish, came into his life, he was certainly a lot happier.
To a human's eyes, the relationship between Joe and Jane was progressing so rapidly that they were rushing their relationship, but to Animalians, it was progressing at the perfect pace. They were already past the 'openly holding hands' stage, and were just leaving the 'friends with benefits' stage. But their relationship didn't interfere with the running of the business/colony.

"It always seems that humans will do anything to impress a potential mate." Said Joe, watching as several tourists returned to the first cruise ship to make a stopover at Mieni Atoll, while others went to their assigned cabanas.
"Even to the point of harming themselves or others by mistake." Said Jane, as four or five went over to the first aid cabana, the Mieni Atoll Clinic being reserved for 'natives'.
"I heard that Tzan might be getting a little territorial over possible 'hunting grounds' at the reefs, Both Illumination and Lover's Lagoon." Said Joe, looking at a list of incidents on his new waterproof IPad.
"We might have to set up times for tourist swimming and native hunting so these, 'shoobies'? (Is that the California slang for tourists we heard?) don't cause a possible cross-species incident." Said Jane, trying to remember what the word was that Luke, who had been born and raised in Los Angeles, near the beach, used to describe the visitors to Mieni Atoll.
"That's an interesting word to label someone who wears shoes to the beach, according to Luke." Acknowledged Joe, writing down the word and definition in his notes. At that moment, Jane put her new, webbed hand on his shoulder.
"Responsibility is for tomorrow," she said, friskily, "tonight it's you and me." Joe immediately knew what she was talking about and placed his IPad to the side, after locking it, and both headed for Lover's Lagoon.

Joe and Jane didn't waste any time with foreplay when they arrived at the artificial reef formation created to give aquatic Animalian couples their privacy. They stripped off their swimsuits and began embracing and kissing each other. Joe's member quickly responding by sliding out of its slit and extending to a good 10.5 inches. Jane quickly guided it into her and they began thrusting against each other in perfect timing to maximize pleasure. As they both had simultaneous orgasms, their last conscious thought was how they had an ideal mate.
When they came to, it was nearly daylight. Glad that they still had their new futures ahead of them, they dressed themselves, only to find that their clothes were somewhat smaller than they were beforehand. At Horizon Labs, Mieni Atoll Division, Harold was able to explain the main parts of double dosing with the Animalia virus.
As part of the mandatory remeasurement for double dosed couples. It was determined that Joe was now an even seven feet tall with a light-heavyweight bodybuilder bod. Jane was only slightly smaller, at six foot ten inches tall, but backed it up with E-cup breasts and matching hips and butt, making her a perfect hourglass.
Joe and Jane still had the bond between them going strong, but Joe's decision to have Jane as Deputy Mayor/Vice Manager of the Reserve and Resort was clearly to have both a professional relationship and a personal one between the two of them. It certainly seemed to work because managing the resort certainly got easier, even though the paperwork was still a hassle to uplifted Animalians.
