The first day was over before Mark and Nick could see much. There was a great dinner with hamburgers and French fries and cake and ice cream, and all the kids had a great time eating all they wanted.
Then there was a great action movie, one of the really gross ones that you usually couldn't get into unless you were older. The two boys had yelled and screamed and eaten until they were exhausted, and were glad to get to their room.
Nick grinned when he saw the sleeping arrangements - two identical single beds were placed next to each other on the far wall, with matching desks and dressers. "Great! I thought all the rooms had bunk beds!"
There was a big TV in the room, and they watched it until they both fell asleep.
Nick woke up early, and stretched out with a big yawn. He was still in his clothes from yesterday, and they had bunched up around him. He heard some movement from the other bed and glanced over. Then jerked up when he saw a boy about 10 years old with medium brown hair and a face that was familiar, but not Mark's. "Who are you? Where's Mark?"
The boy stared at Nick. "I'm Mark! Who are you? What happened to Nick?" He frowned and pulled at his clothes. "And how come my clothes are so tight?"
Nick scrambled up out of bed, realizing that his clothes were too loose. And he suddenly realized why the other boy's face looked familiar. A quick check in the mirror on the wall confirmed his suspicions. He looked exactly like the other boy! Maybe 10 years old, with medium brown hair, and a face that was somewhere between what Nick and Mark had looked like yesterday. It was like the two of them had been averaged out - so that they were...
He looked at where they had slept. "Ohmygosh! Those are TWIN beds. And they made us into twins!"
