After Mr. Mendes left, Ric found a spell that would be interesting to try out: a time travel spell. The two boys could use it to see history firsthand. However, they were well aware of what could happen if history was changed in anyway--they had seen all three Back to the Future films, as well as the Time Warp Trio show. Therefore, if they did use the spell, they would have to go to a time and event that they knew well enough that they would not be able in unknowingly change it.
"What do you think?" Rick asked.
"Time travel has always been a pipe dream," Josh said, "but I would like to do it."
"But you realize that the slightest change could be risky," Ric said.
"Then it's obvious isn't it?" Josh said.
"Yes," Ric said, "now think of a place that we know enough about."
The two boys thought over this for a while; they barely noticed Mr. Mendes walk back out with his four legs and new clothes. The spell could send someone--and if wanted, more than one someone--across space and time to any location, date, and year on Earth and in time.
"I have an idea!" Josh said.
"Let me hear it," Ric said.
Josh whispered it in Ric's ear.
"Great idea!" Ric said. "It would be amazing to see THAT in person!"
With that, the guys waited until Mr. Mendes left the house. As soon as his four feet walked out the door, the two boys read the spell. When Ric finished reciting the spell, a bright light shone from the book. The light enveloped the two boys and pulled them and the book into a wormhole. They hurtled through a vortex towards their destination...
