After she watched the satellite’s remains fall towards Earth, Janet flew away from the Earth at an incredible speed. In just two tenths of a second she had passed by the Moon. She casually looked over her shoulder and saw the two bodies recede realizing that she was flying well above the speed of light. She wasn’t surprised at the least. She looked ahead and willed herself even faster. She reached the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter in about the same time that it took her to walk from the front door of her house to her bedroom.
Janet instantly stopped and spotted a group of asteroids about a hundred thousand miles from her position. Near the center was a massive rock about fifty miles in diameter by her estimate. She clenched her right fist, placed it in front of her and propelled herself towards the giant asteroid at about half light speed. Upon impact it exploded into countless pieces which headed in every direction. Janet notice one large fragment about several times the size of the Astrodome heading towards the interior of the solar system. Using her enhanced brain she calculated its path and concluded it would highly likely collide with Earth. Immediately she flew in front of the asteroid and with her titanic strength slowed its momentum until it came to a stop. She then pushed it in the opposite direction.
As she watched the mile-wide rock move away from her, Janet felt a little guilty. I could’ve destroyed the Earth, she thought. I should be a bit more careful in the future. As they say, with great power comes great responsibility.
