"No thanks. I'm staying here a little while to get my face back!" Derrick said with determination.
His parents simply shrugged. His mother responded in return "Er-Okay Derrick. We'll be in our rooms if you need us."
Before they could leave, Julie, his strangely quiet sister finally spoke up. "Hey, you think I can stay here too? I don't think bro is the only one who needs to relax."
John and Sharon Anderson simply nodded as they left the spa.
When they were gone, Julie looked at her brother straight in the cross eyes. "Aright bro, how did you messed this up this time? I thought you cared about your face more then that!"
Before he could reply accordingly, he has to focus his slightly cross-eyed vision on her first.
Julie may be one of those straight A kind of people but that doesn't mean she isn't as athletic as Derrick herself. In fact, people sometimes call her the female version of Derrick. Derrick may not show it (especially not now) but he does actually get straight A grades just like Julie. Likewise, Julie may not like to talk about it, but she works out just as much as her brother. If someone looks close enough, they will see that Julie is just as muscular and good looking as Derrick was just a little while ago. In addition, even though she may act more smarter and calm collected then her brother, she's actually just as hotheaded as him. Perhaps her strong connection to her older brother is why she knew something was wrong.
When Derick was able to focus on her, he replied back angerly "It isn't my fault! As I said hundreds of times before, this guy stole my face!"
As he pointed towards Randy, he realized Randy was walking out of the spa.
Even though he lost his face, he definitely didn't lose his athletic body. Derrick was able to grab Randy before he could completely exit out the door.
Derrick said in a calm voice "And were do you think YOU'RE going?"
"I'm going back to my mom to show her my face!" Randy replied brightly.
Derrick dragged him back angerly. "Oh HELL no you don't! You're staying here until I figure out how to get our faces back!"
"But I like this sports facial!" Randy whined back.
This made Derrick REALLY angry. "I NEVER WANTED YOUR UGLY FACE TO BEGIN WITH!!!"
Randy was in tears at this point. "I JUST WANT TO MAKE FREEEEEIIINNNDDDDSSSSSSS!!!!?!!!."
Julie stepped in and grabbed the two boys shoulders. "LOOK!" She looked toward Randy. "I don't know who you are, but it's not not nice to take other people's faces, ESPECIALLY not my brother's."
Randy was wiping away his tears. "B-but. But...."
She then looked her brother in the eyes but then winced at the smell of his new breath. "And you. If you want your face back, you should be nicer about it! This kid had that face all his life! Who knows what he went through. Of course, I would have reacted the same way if it were my face BUT still!"
Derrick stared angerly back at his sister as she stared angerly back.
But before anymore sparks can fly, a robed girl with a tray of drinks walked up. "Have a drink! It will make you feel better!" The girl said happily.
Without hesitation, the three teenagers garbed a cup and drank them in one gulp. They were more focused on the tension of their predicament to worry about what they are they are drinking. When the strange substance hit home, the teenagers began to have gazed looks on their faces.
A girl with a scroll and pen in hand walked up. "Would you like another one of our services?"
The three teenagers nodded dreamily.
The lovely girl began listing off services, occasionally showing a list with words and pictures and asking to pick one. Other times, the teenagers just answered the questions in their own words. The whole thing felt like a dream, and they barely remembered anything that was being said. That's not to say they didn't catch anything out of the ordinary. On occasion, the girl would ask things like what animal or object, or what location on the body. Sometimes they they even ask about things like individual toes or fingers, or even eyes or ears. Derrick was also able to catch words like hybrid, merge, inanimate, recruitment, species, skin, function, feeling, position, movement, switch, etc. Derrick could scarcely keep track of what they were saying or what he was saying. Luckily however, the half asleep teenagers nodded yes when asked if they wanted to keep their minds unchanged.
By the end of the questioning, the three teenagers found themselves seated as they waited for their treatments.
In front of them were girls carrying golden objects while one carried a list of treatments for each of them."Were should we start?" One of the girls asked.
"Firstly, this young man wanted ____, this young lady wanted _____, and this young man wanted _____." The girl carrying the list stated.
"Right, let's begin"
Derrick only stared with his unfocused, half lidded eyes as his vision was covered in gold.
