With spring semesters ending and summer vacations starting, Mieni Atoll was experiencing its first tourist season. Construction was still progressing on the other islands but the decommissioned airbase has been converted enough to allow people to check in and there were several huts built for extra room.
The amount of tourists incoming was not overwhelming. There were plenty of other tropical archipelagoes that Mieni Atoll would be competing with, even within the Oceanic area. But still, the first tourists coming in were a sign that the Animalia offshoot will eventually be a very popular vacation spot.
The main reason people were coming to Mieni was, of course, the Animalians that were working there. People were fascinated with the uplifted fishes, impressed with how they were able to walk on land and swim in the sea with no effort. Even the ones that weren't sea-dwellers like Anna and Krysta were very interesting, though with the latter, they tried to avoid looking at her visible organs.
Asides from the uplifted Animalians, there was plenty to keep the tourists entertained. There was swimming around the island, scuba diving at Luminous Reef, surfing on the east side, looking at the oyster beds on the west side, relaxing at the spa, hiking in the jungle, and various other things.
The tourists were thankfully respectful enough and weren't rude to the new owners of the island. Asides from a few drunken instances, such as the spectacularly failed attempt as stealing the Mieni Black Wonder, the tourists were well-behaved. Though there was a bit of concern that the students from the Animalia Modeling School might get a little harassment from the less-reserved men there, but considering that Animalians were well-capable of defending themselves, there would be likely be nothing more serious than some obnoxious catcalling.
Projections for the other construction projects were that the other islands would be finished by the beginning of the next month, thanks to adaptive Animalian engineering and the latest developments in eco-friendly technology. Which will probably mean that tourism in Mieni Atoll will skyrocket by that point.
