Julia Wesley found there were ups and downs to being an Animalian going into labor. The good part was that the contractions were a lot quicker and she wouldn't be spending hours trying to give birth. The downside to that was that while it made her time of suffering shorter, it made it a bit more intense. The fact that she was bearing twins didn't make things easier. But thankfully, she had a very healthy constitution and was able to bear through the very intensive processing of birthing her pups.
The first one out was Bash, Julia's new son. His fur color had obviously taken after his mother's, being white with reddish-brown, though his eyes were blue instead of brown. But unlike his other family members, his eyes were a deeper blue, sapphire even.
Bell was a bit of a surprise. Her fur was pure white without any markings. But it wasn't unusual for Animalians having fur colors different from the ones who converted them. Jessica, for instance, became a domesticated white rabbit despite her donor Judy being a grey Mountain Cottontail, though it was assume that Judy had some domesticated rabbit in her family from escaped rabbits. Anyways, pure white was one of the color variations a Siberian Husky could come in and clearly Mary Alice must have had a relative with that fur coloring at some point. Bell's eyes were an icy blue like her father's, though her pale fur made them look even paler.
To Julia's relief, her puppies were born with eyes and ears open just like human babies. Though instead of crying like humans, they made squeaks and whimpers. But that didn't matter to Julia because she loved her newborns so dearly already. Actually, their puppy sounds were more preferable to her canine ears than a baby's wailing.
Julia was a little bit hesitant to start nursing her puppies. She feared that the virus still in her system would affect her pups and drinking her milk would cause them to grow up in an instant. But still, the doctors assured Julia that the vaccine would prevent the puppies from getting another dose. Actually, they've found that newborn Animalians were naturally immune to getting a second dose of the Animalia virus, particularly if their parents were double-dosers. Which was a considerable relief to parents who didn't want their children to grow up too fast.
Bash and Bell soon fell asleep after feeding from Julia, their little bellies full of her milk. Thomas couldn't be prouder to be a father all over again. Sarah was excited not only to have a little sister, but a little brother as well. Though she wondered if they'd see her more as an aunt than a big sister considering how close in physical age she was with their mom. Malice was just happy to have new members of the family. It made her think about her and Simon having pups of their own one day, but that would be a long time yet. Till then, she'd be just happy looking over her new siblings.
