Colin looked over to a blue eyed blonde haired six year old girl crying to herself in the seat across from him. He had to do something, this was too much for him.
"It's alright kiddo, the bombs have stopped dropping." Colin said.
She looked up with her eyes stinging from the tears.
"M-m-my mom.... s-she's gone! We were running away from those ladies when the explosions started, an-and-annnnd.... I RAN OUT OF IT HOLDING HER HAND AND NOTHING ELSE!" the girl choked out through her tears.
"Sssshhh, hey hey, it's alright. I've lost my family too." Colin said as he hugged her.
"*sniff* Really?" she asked.
"Yeah...." Colin said, then following up with, "I'm Colin, what's your name?"
"It's Riley, mister." the little girl said.
"Well Riley, since you've found an adult, you'll be living with him at the Safezone." A soldier said.
"Safezone?" Colin asked.
"There are two: One run by the CDC, and another run by the military. We're heading to the military one." the soldier explained.
Colin and Riley hunkered down for the hour long trek to the Army Safezone....
