You are crouched with your little brother, Craig, behind a clump of tall grass. You know that there is really no need to hide from the stinging insects, but you still feel a little safer behind some cover. Craig is excitedly describing the bugs in detail, his young voice yapping about every new thing that comes to his attention, and your attention starts to wander.
"Benjamin!" Craig shouts, pointing up into the sky with his finger. "Look! Don't you see?"
You look up, and you can see that he is pointing at a speck off in the distance. You can't exactly see without the binoculars, but the urgency in the boy's tone makes you feel like you're looking at something very important. Just as your eyes start to hurt, the image pops clearly into focus, and you see what Craig is seeing.
A four-limbed duck-morph is struggling in the air, apparently injured and winded, and he looks about ready to stall. You have heard of incidents where bird-morphs have fallen from the sky and gotten seriously injured or killed, so you realize you might be watching a tragedy as the poor fellow strains uncomfortably on a badly wounded wing. Eventually, his wing starts to give out, and he begins falling toward the earth, coming down among some trees maybe five miles away.
What sorts of instincts are you going to act upon first?
