"So, do you think this will work?" one of the zookeepers asked, "that this will help her?"
"We believe so," the Horizon scientist commented, "It isn't quite the original plan... but it would still provide for a new Animalian and should helpfully leave Calypso and Calliope healthy enough to live on."
The zookeepers looked to the anaconda. She was of decent size and had been relatively well fed by the zoo staff, but it was a case where the extra head was in a sense weighing the snake down or if it was struggling. That had been part of the decision to uplift Calypso and Calliope in the first place, as it was hoped the uplifting process would heal her as best as could be managed. That use of "We's" DNA was hoped to be further stabilizing factor in that the rat snake had lived for quite some time.
"Is there anything specific that would say on how it would work?" one zookeeper asked.
"Part of the formula will introduce DNA from a similar two headed snake that was very healthy for quite some time," the Horizon scientist reported, "it'd allow for that DNA to provide for her healing. Given some of the genes that we added to her dosage to ensure her health, there could be the possibility that there could be some differences and/or changes... but even if they occur, the uplifting should be successful."
"Like what?" one of the zookeepers asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Part of the donor DNA came from a rat snake that had two heads named We," the Horizon scientist answered, "The snake was relatively healthy and didn't die as a result of its... condition. However, it was also a perfect hermaphrodite... and in combing We's DNA with Calypso and Calliope, she could become... well... a shi, combining "she" and "him." I really don't have a better word to use for a pronoun."
"And she won't be hurt by this?" the zookeeper asked with narrowing eyes.
"Physically, no," the Horizon scientist answered, "she'd be different, but she wouldn't be unhealthy. But again, that may not happen, as the genes we tried to target were those that specifically made We healthy. The only reason We's hermaphroditic traits might transfer over as that many of the necessary genes also included We's chromosomes as part of them and we couldn't isolate them out without potentially destroying the DNA sample."
The head zookeeper slowly nodded and backed away, but he did keep his eyes on the Horizon scientist. A lot of this seemed to be like something out of some mad scientist's plot to take over the world. Animalia seemed to be okay, and many of the people joining it seemed to know what they were doing, but using the virus, just to see what it could do, didn't quite sit with the zookeeper. The only reason he'd agreed to it was Calypso and Calliope's health. If anything that made her feel pain, he would make sure this scientist paid for it. However, as Calliope and Calypso began to respond to the virus injected into her, the Horizon Scientist raised an arm and pushed against the zookeeper's chest, as if to urge him backward.
"Just be sure to give her room," the Horizon scientist spoke, "the actual transformation process can be a bit uncomfortable and mundane animals not capable of fully understanding what is happening prior to their uplifting may react differently from what humans who have decided to become Animalians have said on the experience."
They watched slowly as the anaconda shook a bit as her body began to react to the Animalia virus. They watched as slowly the thrashes seemed to gain strength and the zookeepers even felt that Calypso and Calliope were beginning to get longer. Then slowly a few nubs began to form just below Calypso and Calliope's shoulders, and as she rose up onto her tail, it was clear that they were starting form into shoulders that would then develop into arms. And as her arms began to grow out, the head zookeeper also watched at a point on Calliope and Calypso's body that would equal where a woman's hips were, began to widen out, actually beginning to resemble a woman's hips eventually.
"Wouldn't she grow legs?" one of the zookeepers asked to the Horizon scientist, as Calliope and Calypso's arms fully developed and as two points her belly scales began to darken, as if to from something akin to nipples.
"Actually with Snake-Animalians, they don't grow legs," the Horizon scientist spoke, "their tail lengthens they gain the strength to balance on it like we would balance on our legs."
And by now, that process of uplifting was complete as Calypso and Calliope stood, looking far stronger and healthier than before with very well defined muscles and an impressive set of breasts. However there was something that looked a bit "off." Calliope's head looked slightly larger, as did the arm on that side of the body. In a sense it looked far more masculine than Calypso's head or the arm on Calypso's side of her body.
"That wassss weird," Calypso spoke as "she" looked down, "and what do thesssse do?"
Calypso raised one hand to poke at one of her breasts.
"They feel niccccccccce," Calliope spoke in a voice that was noticeably deeper than Calypso's. Calliope's voice also sounded sexually interested.
"Why are you interesssssssted in me?!" Calypso asked, sounding slightly irritated, "I'm you and you're me!"
"I don't know," Calliope answered, "I can't help it... I jusssst feet so... ... eager."
With that, slit at Calypso and Calliope's his were opened to reveal serpentine hemipenis growing out and growing erect. Beneath it was what looked like the female equivalent and leaving all present surprised and shocked. In fact none were more surprised that Calypso and Calliope.
"Issss that...?" Calliope asked in surprise.
"If I may," the Horizon scientist spoke as he stepped up, "I believe I can help..."
