At first it would seem like the virus would not be successful, but then Calypso and Calliope began writhing and twisting that marked the process of becoming an Animalian. What was taken note of was that Calypso and Calliope seemed to grow much shorter, to a mere 12 feet in length.
The special fluoroscope they were using for the recording showed the development of many snake Animalian traits, such as the pelvis and collarbone. It was also rather fascinating to watch how the two spines that led from the heads to what would become the shoulders seemed to merge seamlessly without too much trouble. The arms that had formed also seemed to be very capable of both fine manipulation and other, less precise work. But then came the time for the development of secondary sexual characteristics.
The breasts that developed were enormous, only surpassed by the Megafauna Animalians. The muscles that were developing also seemed to give Samson a run for his money. Now the final part was beginning, the development of the brain.
The fluoroscope showed the enlarging of the brain cavities of the two heads, and the development of other features of snake Animalian heads, such as eyelids, etc.. there was also notice that the markings of "We" were appearing among the standard anaconda markings. At this point, consciousness took hold of Calypso and Calliope.
"What? Who? Why?" Said the left head.
"Where? How? Who?" Said the right head.
"Now ladies," began the scientist as Calypso and Calliope began to rise off the examination table, "we would like to welcome you both to Animalia."
"Animalia? What's that?" Asked the left head.
"It sounds nice." Said the right head, a little dreamily.
"I'll explain it to you if you would come with me." Said the Scientist, offering the new Animalian his hand.
"Okay." Said the left head, taking the extended hand.
"Alright." Said the right head, bracing the main body with the other hand.

Using an MRI machine, the scientists determined that the Animalia virus can only go so far in bonding with the subject's DNA. Calypso and Calliope were confirmed to NOT possess hermaphroditism traits, she was fully female. But what they were able to confirm was that they possessed many of the traits found in dicephalic parapagus twins, such as: two complete hearts with shared circulatory system, two spines merged halfway down the rib cage and joined at the thorax by sections of ribs, two completely separate spinal cords which merged just above the pelvis, and a fully functional digestive system. They were also able to determine that the development of hermaphroditic traits was "skipped" because the virus was "working overtime" to insure survival of Calypso and Calliope.
During the remedial lessons, it was determined that the right head was Calypso, and the left head was Calliope. They also determined the differences between the two personalities: Calypso was the light-hearted artiste, while Calliope was the sporty tomboy; Calypso preferred milder-spiced food, while Calliope wanted her food extra spicy; Calypso was always well behaved, while Calliope always looked for a way to do a minor prank; and so on.
One Australian scientist described the two personalities of Calypso and Calliope as "chalk and cheese", but it was clear that the two were inseparable, both physically and emotionally, and always came to a compromise on everything.
When they learned about the upcoming IAC, Calypso wanted to do an exhibit on what the virus was capable of (featuring themselves) while Calliope wanted to take part in the events. Fortunately it was decided to allow the exhibit, but putting it on hold when it was time for the events.

While it was kind of a letdown that Calypso and Calliope wasn't a herm, it was a good thing to have more data on the virus and what it was capable of.
