"That's right, son" said Meredith, who was already finding it kind of weird to be talking to a man.

Clay was on the verge of weeping. He had never imagined that the Great Change people were talking about would make his home planet his own personal hell.

Greta silently wished that the power of the ring could never be used to hurt her or her family, or humanity as a whole. Then she said to the Sorceresses. "OK, take it. The thought of living without the power is scary, which is why I need to give it up now while I still can." She remembered how George Washington had retired after his Presidency.
Regina gave a wave with her fingers, and the three of them found themselves transported to a barren heath. "A dimension where technologically-based transformations got out of control and ended up destroying most living things on earth." said Aziza. "But very little magical energy." Greta took the ring off and handed it to Aziza. "Thank you."
Greta found herself transported back into her own bedroom, with Jean holding her. "It's gone now, love" she told her "We're just ordinary women now."
"Never ordinary to me, dearest" answered Jean.
