You jump back just as the door opens, bracing yourself for a fight. But as the figure falls to the ground before you, you realize that your fear is unfounded. The man is clearly injured and not a threat. In fact, it looks like he might be dying.
You get down on bended knee. You turn the man over and inspect his wounds. His short is torn open, revealing several long, deep scratches across his chest. His abdomen is worse. Blood is seeping through a large gaping hole, soaking his lower body. You quickly tear off some his ripped shirt and turn it into a makeshift bandage, pressing the cloth against his weeping wound and trying to stem the flow of blood. The man winces as you put pressure on his injury.
He looks up at you with tired eyes. But they open wide with surprise briefly when he sees you.
"Who.... who are you? What are you doing here?" he struggles to say.
You begin to explain but he interrupts you with a large coughing fit, spitting up a large amount of blood.
"It doesn't matter. Stranger, you are the only one left alive and I need your help. My beloved daughter has been inflicted with a terrible curse. Every full moon she changes into a horrible beast. Her brothers and I have been searching for cure, but nothing has worked. We had been able to safely contain her, but tonight she broke free of her bonds. Please, you must bring her safely back to this cottage, for her own protection."
Your eyes go wide and the old man can see the fear in your face.
"You do not need to fear her. The sun will soon rise, and as the moon wanes she will become human again. She is no threat to you. But if the villagers find her, they will kill her. Please, stranger. Honor the wish of a dying father and save my little girl. She is not a bad person and does not deserve to be punished for her curse...."
You start to protest, but the old man dies in your arms. You hear a loud howl outside the cottage, coming from the surrounding woods. It is still dark outside, but not as dark as before. You can see the first rays of sun peaking over the horizon. It will be dawn soon.
You decide to....
