Quinn notices changes to the store as soon as he takes his place in the window. Douglas closes the store and then movers come in moving stuff in and out, rearranging everything. Quinn is thrown on a pile to wait. He wonders what is going on. Has Douglas sold the store? Where is all this new merchandise coming from?
At ten-thirty, they even strip all the mannequins and leave Quinn naked. The movers make crass jokes pointing at the mannequin with a penis. Douglas is nowhere to be seen. Quinn sees Hank. Hank even looks at Quinn and makes a check on his clipboard but Hank treats Quinn like just another mannequin and Quinn can't get Hank's attention.
It takes most of the day but around four-o'clock, the store is taking shape again. The whole place looks edgier and younger. The walls and floor are black. Everything else is metal: gold, silver, copper, cobalt, and patina. The clothes are pseudo-vintage: vintage cuts and styles using modern materials in mostly black and metal colors. Red is the next most common color after black. There is also more jewelry and accessories but less of the traditional clothes like gowns, pants and shirts. Instead, there are dashikis, kilts and rubakhas. Quinn learns what these are by reading the new signs. The rubakhas are in various shades of blue and white. The dashikis are in green and gold.
All of Quinn's fellow mannequins are removed from the store. When a mover picks Quinn up, Hank says, "Not that one. That one stays."
"You're keeping the one with the genitals?"
"Yes, he's perfect for the over eighteen section."
Quinn plans to reprimand Douglas for this. Hank picks Quinn up by his ass and takes him to the meeting room. Hank sets him in a chair but doesn't put any clothes on him. Douglas comes in with Fay Morgan.
Finally it is five and Quinn sits properly. He says, "Excuse me while I get some clothes."
Douglas says, "Wait. You know Fay. She and I have become business partners. She designs the clothes. I sell them. We've gotten a business loan because the banks see this as a profitable team up. Therefore, we've hired more employees and will extend our hours from nine to nine. Fay is going to change the curse so you stay a mannequin for twelve hours a day so it won't be awkward trying to sneak you out of the public eye during business hours."
Quinn says, "You can't do that. I'm your brother."
Douglas says, "You are right. I can't do that but Fay can. Until she decides to forgive you, you better be nice to her."
Fay says, "Yes and in the meantime, we will have an adult line of sexy and revealing clothes for men and women. I will need some anatomically correct mannequins for that area. Ordinary mannequins will do for the majority of the store but I need to find a woman to be the mannequin with you. I'm also going to restore your color and features to make you look sexy. Now put this on."
Quinn puts it on because it's better than nothing but it is a mesh thong that is see-through. He's still not decent so he stays plastic but he watches as his plastic body becomes pinker. Quinn says, "You've got to be kidding me. You can't display me like this."
Fay says, "Get used to it."
