Douglas knocks on the door. From the other side he hears, "Who is it?"
"Douglas Pinot. Quinn Pinot is my brother."
"Why should I let you in? Your brother is a jerk."
"He is a jerk. I don't blame you for cursing him but he's now staying with me and I need to know more about the curse."
Douglas hears the sound of locks being unlocked. Then the door opens. Inside is a woman with long black hair wearing black leather. Her apartment is filled with mannequins. She turns her back on you ignoring you but leaving the door open.
Fay Morgan says, "So you know I am formidable. I have lived for thousands of years. More accurately, I have been reborn thousands of times. Your myth about Medusa is about me. My body was beheaded but I was reborn. Each time I'm reborn, I take a new name. Fay Morgan is only my current name. You should be afraid."
Douglas says, "But you lock your door."
Fay says, "Not for fear. I get tired of people bothering me. I just want to live my life in peace."
Douglas says, "You don't sound like much of a monster."
Fay says, "I never killed anyone if that's what you mean. I can immobilize people and the people I immobilize take what ever form people can imagine. It's not my fault that for thousands of years, people could only imagine stone statues. I only immobilize people who bug me or like your brother, disrespect me. If you disrespect me or you tell the world so that a mob comes after me, you will be cursed like your brother."
Douglas says, "I have no intention of disrespecting you. "
Fay asks, "Would you like some coffee?"
Douglas says, "Thank you, that would be nice."
Fay turns around. She wears gold tinted sunglasses. Her face is young and smooth like a woman in her twenties. "Cream, sugar or black?"
Fay's apartment is large but messy. She and Douglas take coffee on the balcony.
Fay says, "I don't work in a warehouse. I'm a fashion designer. That's what I use the mannequins for. These mannequins are just mannequins, not people. I've managed to keep my secret for a while now blending in, pretending that I'm human. It's nice to have a friend who knows my secret."
Douglas asks, "So can you undo the curse?"
Fay pauses for a long time. "No, I can but it is not simple and I don't believe your brother is worth it. Do you need him to be like he used to be?"
Douglas says, "No. He's nicer now than he used to be. This curse may do him some good. But why a featureless, black mannequin?"
Fay says, "That is what you expect. You happen to have three similar mannequins and Quinn came to you first. If he'd gone to someone else he would have looked different."
Douglas asks, "How do you know what mannequins I have?"
Fay says, "I didn't know Quinn well when we first met but when he started disrespecting me, I did my research to learn more about him and you. I may be vindictive but I put a lot of thought into my curses. They aren't just random. Well, I have to make an exception. If they try to kill me and don't give me enough time to research, then my curses are random. But I knew Quinn would turn to you and you would take him in. If you would like him to have a different form, that can be arranged."
Douglas asks, "Can you make him less anatomically correct?"
Fay pauses again. "No. The whole point of the curse is to humiliate him the way he humiliated me."
Douglas asks, "Did he expose you in public?"
Fay laughs, "Not literally but the way he treated me in public gave people the impression that I was a slut. Because of gender, the best way to make him feel how I felt is to expose him in public."
