As soon as Lord Hugenstore took a seat the room immediately went from a loud echoing dome of chatter to a quiet echo. None spoke or moved a muscle as Lord Hugenstore, looking even fatter now that he sat only a few feet away from you, observed the grand room, looking at the various consultants and politicians sitting on the side stands and his own Royal mages giving a grunt of displeasure as he realizes that a majority of his Royal Mages were not present in the council. His beady eyes narrow as he looks around the council room as if expecting for more of his royal mages to appear but as you expected, none did.
Giving a gurgling sigh he speaks up loudly breaking the former silence
"Harauphar, Floen, Garthur and Jargen, tell me, where are the rest? I only see a mere four of the nine mages who pledged themselves to me. Why have they not arrived? Where is Zoen? Where is Tibonius? Answer me now." Hugenstore says smashing a meaty fist on his throne, his voice deep and rough.
"Lord Hugenstore as of now the rest of your loyal mages are not here due to their respective assignments they were sent to enact on your behalf. As always they will give their monthly reports immediately on the day they return." the blue souled mage who sat to your right who you would later know as Garthur Spunwheel answered. The various jewels on his neck jingling softly as he spoke.
Lord Hugenstore gave a huff of discontent as he looked to Garthur who purposefully avoided his Lord's eyes as he quickly spoke again.
"Now my Lord, while we can all understand your frustrations, I will personally take it upon myself to ensure that all missing council members will be kept up to date on everything that will occur during this meeting."
Lord Hugenstore gave another soft growl before turning to face the council members seated below him and the mages.
You watch Lord Hugenstore curiously with the corner of your eye not wanting to stare at him directly should he meet your gaze and see him briefly clear his thirst before addressing the rest of the council.
"Politicians, merchants, and mages alike, as of now with the royal power vested in I, Lord Hugenstore the second in line for the Huthonian Empire's throne, now allow the monthly council meeting begin at once!" He says, articulately moving his arms for dramatic effect as everyone seldom Hugenstore, suddenly stand up from their seats before giving a formal bow in Lord Hugenstore's direction before quickly sitting back down.
You even see Organa do it beside prompting you to also give a small bow using your head to Lord Hugenstore before laying back down on the floor.
"Now, I believe most of us know how this works from this point on so let us begin." Lord Hugenstore says motioning for the council meeting to finally start.
Almost immediately in a flash, various figures in a variety of clothing from merchant clothes to military uniforms all took their separate turns standing on the central pedestal to give their briefings and concerns to Lord Hugenstore after that the council would decide whether any changes or decisions would be needed and then move onto the next in line. While it was interesting at first given how you still only had basic knowledge of this nation's economy and relations with other countries the council itself quickly turned into a dull pattern which reminded you of the reasons why you decided not to become a politician back on your home plane of Earth.
Rarely was there any interesting information spoken about save for several recent kidnappings and a brief mention of the neighboring Skeatan nation which apparently still refused to open it's borders to Huthon and it's people. Other than that the basic gist you learned from about six straight hours of people talking and the occasional pig like snort from Lord Hugenstore was that the city of Bettsworth and its provinces were making large improvements in trade and economy along with several recent magical advancements in agriculture and industry.
Quick side glances to the others nearby you, you saw that their expressions varied. Master Harauphar seemed to be looking into the distance his eyes glazed over while the hivemind mage sitting on the main platform with you and the others was having a series of increasingly larger body spasms that nobody else really seemed concerned about. Organa and her master Garthur both were fully attentive and were always directly paying attention to whoever was speaking at the central pedestal, though you noticed Organa give you a sly wink before looking back at the current man who was giving his rundown on the ethics of using something called alchemical blood though he used the term like something everyone should know of and didn't elaborate on what it was leaving you slightly left in the dark.
Everyone you could see had a bland expression on their faces, with the Silver souled mage stifling a yawn, making you hold back one as well.
This is getting boring you thought numbly as you watched the boring meeting march on.
However once the people in the side lines had their turns, Lord Hugenstore spoke once more.
"Now that we have a majority of the briefings completed let us move on to the present royal mages. Starting with Garthur Spunwheel our royal mage of time magic and his familiar Organa. Please proceed to the central podium now Garthur." you hear Lord Hugenstore say as Garthur and Organa both sitting a foot beside you stand up and head down the stairs of the main platform down. Garthur's heavy footsteps on the hard stone stairs ring loudly throughout the echoing enchanted chamber.
Garthur and his familiar after going down the stairs step up onto the central podium, Garthur clearing his throat before starting.
"If I may all have your attention now please through the grace of Lord Hugenstore. I Garthur Spunwheel will now begin my monthly debrief, I have much too say, so let us begin." He says bowing his head slightly to Lord Hugenstore before continuing.
