Heavy footsteps came toward Jim down the hallway, like a rolling earthquake. The weight and power behind them, shook the world around him. He ran, without thinking. A primal terror overtook him, and he ran away to hide, like a spooked rabbit. Acting on instinct, he headed for darkness, for cover. It was only when he was hiding behind an old pair of shoes that he realized he was under his own bed, kneeling in dust bunnies the size of actual bunnies.
He peeked around his boulder-sized sneakers to see the gigantic door swing open. A titanic green foot appeared from behind it, followed by another one. That was all he could see of the giant, feet and ankles covered in green socks. His heart sank as knew who wore those socks.
"Jim?" called a voice from far above him, as loud as a rock concert. "Are you here?" He recognized the voice. It was Judy, his 9-year-old sister. "Mom and Dad dropped me off. They have to go shopping or something. So, I guess you're in charge or whatever 'till they get back."
She walked up to his bed, and he saw that her feet were each large enough now to crush his entire body. He cowered behind his shoe.
"Hello?" she said. Jim held his breath, but the dust around him tickled his nose. He had to sneeze! He covered his nose and mouth, but he could feel the sneeze begging to come out. It was choking him.
