So it was that Judge Hank came by stage a few days later and heard your case.
Judge Hank was actually a living skeleton dressed in fine robes
and where his eyes aught to have been he had
red glowing orbs.
Rumour was that he had been a innocent man who'd been hung for another mans crime, but no one alive really knew.
So the Sheriff read the charges
1)Unlawful transformation of Jethro into a mouse
2)Unlawful transformation of the Sheriff into a mouse
3)Unlawful lending of dark magic to Witch Mary
so she could turn herself into a dragon
Judge Hank immediately dismissed charge 2
telling the Sheriff if he couldn't defend himself against these kinds of things, why
was he Sheriff.
The skeleton then took a look at Jethro and at your defense, which was that you had thought Jethro had been about
to rape Witch Mary
Jethro did look like a weaselly kind of guy,and gave you a sentence of 3 days, for time already served of 3 days
Which left charge 3
which was much more serious as it appeared that Mary had been unable to retain her
human intelligence and was now a dragon in mind and spirit as well as body.
Rumours were that she had fallen in with a pack of wild dragons
and clawed away greedily for gold, used her flame breath to burn villages
and had already eaten a knight sent to slay her.
As the warlock who'd given her the power to transform into a dragon in the first place
Judge Hank found you equally responsible for
Mary's dragonnish misdeeds.
So he ordered you to serve 7 years in a Warlock Chain Gang that went about the region repairing
the damages caused by the dragons.
And so you soon stumbled out of town in chains shackled to a leg,de-magicked except at the Kings pleasure, along with nine other warlocks, witches and necromancers to serve your 7 years.
Naturally Jethro volunteered to be one of the Chain Gangs guards and a exasperated Sheriff agreed.
