The music seems to be coming from the doors of a huge mansion nearby. Listening carefully, you can hear violins, violas, cellos, and bass. Must be a high-end party. Looking down, you're glad that you wore your nice shirt and pants today. You could crash this party and easily fit in.
You climb the stairs that lead to the mansion's front doors. They're open wide and a huge amount of music, light, and color spill out. As you peer through the doors, you're greeted with a strange sight.
All the people inside are dressed in suits, gowns, dresses, and tuxedos, but all of them are wearing animal masks. You see a man with a deer mask dancing with a woman wearing a cat mask. All the waiters are wearing horse masks and handing out cocktails on huge trays. You are slightly disturbed to see that the revelers don't take off their masks to drink them - they just pour them down the mouth hole.
Everyone inside just seems to be dancing now, but you can tell it's winding to a close. The band, all dressed in crow masks, are getting to the end of their set. The masks revelers are starting to loosen up and get away from each other, breaking into small groups to talk.
Despite the relative creepiness of the masks, it does look like a good time. You've always been a social person, so you think you'll fit right in.
You're about to walk in when some suddenly clears their throat. Turning, you see a woman in a peacock mask sitting at a table. "Name? And where is your mask?" She asks sharply. "Uh...I'm sorry, but I don't have a mask and I'm not invited." You stammer. Although you can't see through her mask, you can tell she is glaring suspiciously at you. "I see. Well, walk through that door over there." She says, pointing to dark doorway near the back of the porch.
You shrug and walk towards it, glancing back one last time at the woman before stepping inside. It's very dark, almost pitch black. As you stumble around in the dark, you are suddenly grabbed from behind. You try to yell out but are stifled when something is pulled over your head and something is shoved in your hands.
You sway for a moment before you are pushed out an unseen opening and stumble right into a brightly-lit hallway that leads to the party. You feel the weight of something in your hands and judging by the slightly blackness around the corners of your vision, you're now wearing a mask. You spot a nearby mirror and walk towards it, turning and looking in.
