Once you adjusted to looking at everything through the mask, you could see that it was clearly some kind of snake head you wore. Mainly a light tan-brown somewhat like the ground outside, with some patterns, but past that you couldn’t make out the specific details, like species. Still, you now blended in with the other partiers around, some of whom were still in small groups, but the others had moved elsewhere.
As you continued to look around, occasionally sipping on the cocktail - which you find to your surprise you can get easily into your mouth through the mask - you began to get an idea as to the general layout of the mansion, at least for this floor.
By far the single-largest room was this one, where the band had been playing and a few remained to talk amongst themselves. Following the ones who had left took you to another hallway that led to a few rooms, the first being what you believed to be the Buffet Room, where a sizeable number helped themselves to the food on offer.
Lastly there was a group of what you decided were rest/relaxation rooms. The rest were there, seated or standing, unwinding. In fact, one in a lizard mask in a white suit had opened his jacket and the top of his shirt, and his mask seemed to run down his front. Very convincingly at that.
“Excuse me? Are you enjoying the party?”
Turning to face the source showed another party-goer, wearing a cougar mask, dressed in a pink single-strap dress and heels. In fact, her mask looked to cover her whole body based on the arms and legs, not to mention the extremely convincing tail that peeked out.
“Hard to say.” You admitted. “I’ve not been here long. Misssed the dance.”
“Only the first one. The band’s simply taking a rrest for now, there’ll be another session later.”
“So what to do in the meantime?” You think aloud.
“Well until the next dance, you could get food, or wait in a restroom or the dancefloorr.” She offered you.
“Then…” You reply after a few moments thought, draining the cocktail and passing the glass to a passing waitress.
