Welcome to the Mieni Atoll Nautical Museum

added by makutamon 6 years ago O

When the Mieni Atoll Nautical Museum finally opened, there were a lot of visitors who wanted to see the exhibits there. Iphis, Ianthe, Typhoon, and Waterlily were arriving because it was one of their first official "dates". Melbourne was coming along because he wanted to see the Mieni Atoll Kraken for himself. Abby and Co., as well as their parents, came along because it was supposed to be the official Animalia Ambassadoria coverage of the opening of the museum.

---

The outside of the building, as well as the AFS it was built on, was designed to look like it was seemingly made of the coral reef it was built over, as though it was just a massive hunk of coral reef that happened to grow into that shape over millions of years. Inside of it was the main lobby, with tables and chairs scattered around it, and a large sheet obscuring what was probably the Mieni Atoll Kraken. As soon as enough people were inside the building, the official opening ceremony took place. It was a bit of an adaptation of the first scene from the Disney adaptation of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

---

"I say there ain't no sea monsters," Said one man, dressed up as the Nautical recruiter from the movie, "But we need men. To show you how serious about it we are, we'll pay you double wages and a bonus. From 'Frisco to Shanghai and back, all found."

"All dead you mean." Said one of the reporter, done up as the challenger to the recruiter from the movie, "Don't sign up, mates. You can't fight off the monster with double wages and a bonus. This man survived an attack by the monster, and will tell us his story." Then one of the cameramen who covered the attack, done up as an "old sea dog" (striped shirt, sea dog hat, and white whiskers), came up, braced on a cane as if he had been injured by the beast (in accordance to the movie, and began describing the attack.

"It was a monster all right. It was 50 feet long, from beak to tail. And it came billowing up out of the darkness. Whoosh! It attacked with great speed. Tap! It struck our keel, broke our backs and sunk us. Forty poor sailor men drowned dead from its predations."

"The point is this thing is a ship-killer." Continued his companion, but this was the part that not only deviated from the script, but was also the official reveal of the Kraken. "If you don't believe us, here it is." Then dramatic buildup music began playing from the surround sound speakers as lights played across the sheet. At the right moment, the sheet dropped and revealed the resin block holding the giant squid.

When everyone saw it, there was an exclamation of wonder at seeing it. That was when the sushi bar was officially opened, and everyone began roaming the Museum, looking at the exhibits. One of the most popular parts of the Giant Squid exhibit was the coverage of the attack/battle between Ran, Gaz, Rapier, Gladys, and the giant squid.
