Abby and Co. were just outside of Abby's ranch, coming home from school, when Abby stopped and sniffed. While her senses weren't as good as a dog's, they were still better than a human's.
"My uncle's here." Said Abby, disgustedly at the scent of familiar engine exhaust.
"Your uncle?" Asked Samson, not familiar with the term.
"My mom's brother." Answered Abby. When she saw his still confused look, she explained, "An uncle or aunt is a brother or sister, respectively, of your mother or father."
"I remember him." Said Sophie, "He's that livestock auctioneer that lives up in Montana."
"I remember him." Acknowledged Sarah, "We went to one of his shows when we were ten. I couldn't understand him at all when he was on the podium."
"An auctioneer?" Asked Travis, not familiar with any of that. Sarah then explained what an auction was as they went into the house to meet Abby's uncle, J.T. Monroe.
Before Abby hugged him, she took a few sniffs. "You're not as stinky as you once were." She commented.
"Yep." Answered J.T., not surprised, "I'm giving up cigarettes."
"So why are you here?" Asked Sarah.
"You heard about the devastation in Texas by Hurricane Harvey?" Asked J.T., sadly. Everyone nodded, having seen the news. "I've come up with an idea to help both Animalia and the hurricane victims as well."
"Really? What?" Asked Malice, remembering one time J.T. visited, and how smelly he was then.
"Any of you heard of a Bachelor Auction?" Asked J.T.
"Kind of." Said Sophie, trying to remember, "isn't that where rich women place bids on handsome men in order to get a chance at dating them?"
"A simplified yet accurate description." Answered J.T., "It kinda went out of style after shows like 'The Bachelor' and 'The Bachelorette' became more common. I've got a feeling that there will be many bachelors and bachelorette in Animalia that are having trouble finding mates."
"So?" Asked Samson, not getting it.
"I was thinking of having something similar to my original occupation, yet similar to a bachelor auction here to help find mates for single Animalians, and raise money for hurricane victims in Texas, as you know that the Monroes have a long history in Texas." Explained J.T..
"It might be a good idea," said Abby, "but you'll have to talk it over with Clara. And that might be difficult with her new cubs taking up a good deal of her time."
"I'll be sure to do so." Answered J.T., "I've got me a cheap hotel room where I can wait for an opportunity."
