You decide to average your hair. Kadir looks like he won't be balding anytime soon, and any hair gained on your part would be considered a victory. Kadir's broad back is turned to you, and his eyes are focused on the road. You're not sure it's a good idea to make a magical change while you're in sight of this man, but part of you wants to see his reaction. Besides, you're strangers to each other. The hefty man looks back occasionally by way of the rearview mirror, and when he focuses his eyes back on the road for the hundredth time, you take your chance. You focus on the large man and kiss the averaging ring. In the split second while the magic takes hold, you realise with horror that you forgot to focus on the driver's hair. In fact you didn't specify anything. You're not sure what that means. But it's too late. You feel reality pop around you.
You open your eyes, and you're sitting in the passenger seat of the taxi. You feel heavy and hot. Sweat is trickling down your forehad. "Ağabeyim iyi mi?" You turn to your left, expecting to see Kadir, but are surprised to see he looks younger, less fat. His face is different too, isn't it? You surprise yourself further, because you completely understood the Turkish words he just spoke. "Yes, just a little... tired," you reply in English. Kadir scoffs loudly at this. "Tired? Asil, we are almost back home! That means you will be starting your shift in only a few minutes." Asil? Part of your brain is telling you this is the first time you're hearing this name, but another part of you says it is completely familiar. After all, it has been your name for 37 years. Wait, no! This is all wrong. You quickly look down at the rings, and are shocked to see that they are gone. In their place is a single ring, with 2 half-moon shaped gems. It looks remarkably similar to the ones you had before, but... You look over at Kadir and see a matching ring on his hand too. "That ring..." you say. "Say no more, brother. Anlıyorum. We must use them again when you get home. I enjoy these muscles very much." Brother? The taxi driver keeps one hand on the wheel, and lifts the other, flexing his arm. It's not as massive as Eric's used to be, but quite well defined and strong looking, the pudgy flesh surrounding it only inflating its apparent size. Kadir pulls up to your apartment building and gets out. "I will see you tonight," he says, patting you on the shoulder with his muscular arm as he steps out.
You finally get a chance to take a look at yourself and step out of the car. Or at least you try to step out of the car, it requires more effort than you were expecting. Looking down at your body, you see the problem. You look completely different. Even your clothes have changed. A baggy polo covers your torso, which has ballooned outwards slightly. Well, more than slightly. Before you were around 165 pounds. Now, you must be a good chunk over 200. Emphasis on chunk. You have a round gut, and when your raise your pudgy hands to grab your pecs, you feel ample flab. Not quite at man-breast level, but getting there. The added decade and a half of age did not improve this issue, only adding more sag and strain to your muscles. Turning yourself to examine your body is making you sweat more than you would have expected, and you want badly to sit. You notice that your arms (now about as muscular as Kadir's) are scattered with a fair amount of short curly black hairs too. You have to look in a mirror. You crouch down with some effort, looking in the side mirror of the taxi. Your mouth goes a little slack. You see Kadir staring back at you. Your memory fills in some gaps, reminding you that of course you would look the same, you're identical twins. The two of you have been inseparable since birth, sharing everything. Apartments, girlfriends and boyfriends (you seem to be bisexual now), clothes, this taxi... Your features resemble your old ones in some ways; especially your eyes and mouth. However, your nose is foreign to you, large and beak-like. Your chin meets your neck in a long slope, the beginnings of a full-fledged double chin. You're a couple inches shorter, too, you think, although it may be the illusion of your added width. You're completely in shock, but somehow your feet still carry you to the driver's side door and get you into the vehicle.
It seems as if the ring averaged everything with the former stranger. Your memories, knowledge, bodies, relationships. You are Asil now, and it looks like your twin brother Kadir has the other half of your magic rings.
