Eco Bombs: At the Acclimatisation Facility...

added by Bahamut626 5 years ago A

The Acclimatisation Facility was, as its name made clear, a facility built to serve a very particular function. To aid those victims of the Eco-Bombs where the effects were only partial, incomplete. Comprising:

1 - A Full Assessment of their condition once they were brought in
2 - Vaccination Programmes to guard against whatever disease and illness they could now be susceptible to in their new form
3 - Mental Counselling and Training to both aid them in coming to terms with their new lives, and how to live with new instinctive drives
4 - Where required, the securing of new accommodation and employment should their new form make their old lives untenable - this point particularly true for those who found themselves an aquatic being, and especially when they had gills

To serve so many roles, the sheer size of the Acclimatisation Facility was no surprise in spite of the relatively small number who actually needed it. Administrative Offices fairly close to the main entrance, then a notable gap before the next group, the actual Housing blocks, both for staff and patients. The rest of comprised of open areas of grass fields, woodlands, lakes, and indoor facilities.

Naturally, such a place made for an enticing target for attack by The Ecos (and any sympathisers), and a round-the-clock guard was demanded as such, fifty-four in total, each working eight-hour shifts to provide constant cover. Half that number comprised medical staff, nine on shift at a time. Maintenance and Administrative Staff numbered twenty-seven and twenty-one respectively, with one Head at the top of it all. One-Hundred-Thirty total. A high number considering that with the latest group of just seven brought in from the latest attack, there were only thirty being held now.

“Aright, head over to Lot ‘C’ and the medics will take it from there.” The guard at the main entrance waved the transport vans in, carrying the ‘saveable’ victims.

The fact that he loosely resembled a long-necked saurian in guards uniform should have shocked the others, but the transport staff were already aware of this detail, while the patients were too numbed by their own shock and despair to note it as they approached the designated spot, staff already on hand.

Of the four medical staff present, two were human, one was most likely a male orcanid in appearance, but still able to walk on land, and the other an oddly scaled (being a deep pinkish-purple, perhaps based on one from another world with different vegetation) Lizardwoman - the outline of her c-cup breasts somewhat visible on her lab coat - who were already helping the transport staff move the victims into the medical wards. One of whom needed particular care due to having to be held in a holding tank to simply breathe comfortably.

“So who do we have?” One of them, a human, asked while they were moving the patients into the medical wards.

“Harold Zerwingger, 28, snake, borderline case but the treatment seems to be holding. Anita Keynes, 30, kangaroo. Erwin Davine, 33, the fish in the holding tank. Venessa Cunningham, 24, Mantis. Aaron Branford, 23, stegosaur most likely. Miriam Barker, 28, tigress. And David Andersten, 34, lizard.” The transport staff member ticked off the names as they either passed by, or she pointed to in the case of Erwin, taking a moment to remove her helmet to reveal the grey-black lupine face she now wore. “The only ones out of one-hundred-two that we could reach in time.”

“That many?”

“That we know of, who knows about how many others there might be.” She sighed as she rubbed a hand over an arm, seeing that all the patients were being attended to. “Were going to be here for a while, so I’ll be at the usual.” She stated, handing over the infopad and making her way across to her assigned housing block.

Before she’d even entered, the top half of her two-piece uniform was already open and off, her smallish breasts half-hidden thanks to the same grey-black fur that covered her face, though it was a lighter shade across her front, the key-card entry recognising her as Elena Carter, a wolf-human hybrid. Waiting for the lift to take her to the fourth floor was long enough for her pants and boots to come off as well, the source of the bulge being a tail that was free from its confines and swayed behind her. Her quarters reached a minute later and with the same key-card was finally able to relax. Her uniform to one side where she’d remember it and have it washed, she herself ready for a good long shower.

And through all this, a pair of watchful green-golf eyes had maintained over the scene from the main office. Her own tail swishing behind her, with as near as made no difference all of her tan and cream fur on display had anyone been watching.

Katrina Cowen, a mix of cougar and human, clad only in a pair of black business heels and some wrist jewellery returned to her seat - it was how she was most comfortable, even it she had to take care to not let her large breasts bounce and sway too much. The latest message from her own Boss, Elaine Sanders, wanting to know about the condition of the latest patients, the latest victims of the Ecos Terrorist Group.

Rubbing her temple in frustration, she almost growled as she studied the instructions on her screen. Surely she must have known that she would only have received them now? And that it could take weeks before a full assessment would be ready? A point she intended to raise with her Boss at the next meeting, which a glance at the time told her was a little under an hour away.

Enough time for a light snack and to get her Notes in order.
