On a whim, Jeremy highlights the 'SWAP' option and hits what he assumes is the 'enter' button. The word "swap" fills the screen with a light chime as the red orb on the end of the gun begins to whir and glow faintly. Jeremy aims at the ground, figuring that this way if this thing turns out to be deadly no one will get hurt, and pulls the trigger. A luminous red beam shoots out and disappears as it hits the floor. Jeremy gets down on to inspect the spot where the beam hit only to find the floor unscathed and unharmed. The ray emits a honking sound and the words "INVALID SUBJECT" flash on the screen. His curiosity mounting, Jeremy points the gun at himself and shoots. He feels a tingling sensation where the beam hits him but once again the ray gun claims "INVALID SUBJECT"
Confused and frustrated at the gun's lack of instructions he aims at a random wall and shoots. The beam zips out and phases through the wall. In a matter of seconds the ray gun chimes and suddenly Jeremy is hit a severe feeling of vertigo before blacking out.
As quickly as he blacked out Jeremy comes to and sits up in the dark. 'Wait a minute,' he thinks to himself, 'I wasn't laying down and I definitely wasn't on a bed.'
