Taking a Stand

added by JackalSmirnoff 5 years ago BM

You feel the creature, this thing, probing your mind, wordless whispers at the edge of your consciousness, pulling you towards the window, towards the being. Your body seem to move of its own accord, arms pushing you up off the bed, legs taking slow, wobbling steps towards the window. It's like you're being led along by a mental leash, hypnotized. This thing's presence, its aura of power, threatens to overwhelm your mind.

Submit, it says. You are in their domain, a trespasser in nature. You are only a human, facing something you cannot fight. It wants you to bow down before it, show your worship, your obedience. To bow to it as a master, no, a god.

And it pisses you off.

Fuck this. Where does this thing get off, thinking it can give you orders? This is your house, your home, damn it, and it's the one trespassing here, staring in through your window like a supernatural creep. And more importantly, what the HELL gives it the right to mess with YOUR MIND? The very essence of your being, the thing you have more right to than any other! Your fists clench, and your legs stop moving. One way or another, it's getting out of your brain right the hell now.

Whatever reaction it was expecting, it wasn't that. The elk-god raises its eyebrows in shock, its pointed grin turning to an angry scowl. It leans forward, the window frame creaking with its weight, and pushes against your mind again. The lights of its eyes flare out, casting a mystical glow through the window and across your room. The whispers in your mind turn to shouts, demanding you bow down, saying you are nothing before the godling's might, to grovel or be destroyed. Your spirit surges to meet its attack. This is your body. This is your home. You will not let this thing control you. It screams in your mind, and you scream right back.

You reel under the assault, holding firm against a psychic onslaught , a roaring storm of magic and sheer willpower that threatens to crush you. But you refuse to give in. You can almost see the power, physically bracing yourself against the force, further angering the godling. It opens its mouth in a roar, as if all the animals of the forest howled and bellowed and hissed as one being. You can feel its shock, its sheer indignance and fury at being opposed. Its confusion taints its aura, creates gaps and weak points in the psychic attack that you exploit and target without really understanding how. You take a defiant step forward, yelling back at it, louder than you thought possible, a ceaseless roar from the very core of your being. It roars back, louder still, its clenched fists splintering the window frame beneath pitch-black claws, horns rattling in the din.

You're fighting back now, tearing away parts of its aura, pulling them into you, robbing it of power. It's becoming frightened, you can feel it, completely unprepared for this. The glowing from its eyes warps, sputters with fear and incomprehension. You feel its strange mystic energy flowing into you, giving you inhuman strength, straining your body as bones thicken and grow, tearing away some of the godling's power. The floor creaks beneath you as your frame grows taller, thicker, more durable.
