THUMP
You're bolted awake by a loud noise from the other side of the room.
THUMP
Oh god. It's coming from the window, the one you're facing away from. You feel a presence behind you, outside. Does it know you're awake? Maybe if you pretend you're still asleep it'll go away.
THUMP THUMP
The presence feels even stronger. You don't know how, but you're absolutely certain it knows you're awake.
THUMP
THUMP
THUMP
Whatever it is, it's getting irritated. No sense putting it off any longer. You brace yourself, and sit up in your bed to face it. And you're immediately transfixed.
There, staring in your window, looking you straight in the eye, is a man, a creature, a thing. God, it must be at least seven, maybe eight feet tall. It's humanoid, built like a man, with a huge but lean body of sleek muscle and wiry strength. You feel raw power radiating off of it, and that freezes you in place even more than the fear. Its skin, which you can just make out in the light of your porch, is covered in fine short fur, light brown and white. Its arms, spanning far enough to reach both sides of the window, are long and muscular, ending in large powerful hands and fingers that end in thick nails that are something between a bear's claws and a deer's hooves. And the head...
Dear god, the head...
It's shaped like a full-grown buck's head, with huge antlers out of a hunter's dream. But its muzzle is strangely human, wider than a buck's, with a strong sharp chin and a mouth full of black fangs like a wolf's. And its eyes, they glow with a pure white light, almost blinding, but you can't seem to look away.
You can hear it in your mind. It wants you to come outside.
