When Ty and Dustin opened the door, they stepped out of the dark hallway, away from the hall of mirrors behind them, and into--
"A white hallway?" Dustin asked.
"Well, it certainly isn't our hallway back home." Ty said.
"Where do you think we are now?" Dustin asked.
"I don't know," Ty replied, "but maybe we could look around."
The two held the door shut, sticking Ty's wallet between it and the jamb to keep it from closing all the way--they feared that if the door was left closed, the secret hallways might disappear before the boys got back to the door. Leaving the door, they went down to the far end of hallway, passing several identical doors--another reason to mark the right door. Beyond the door at the end of the hall, they found a small vestibule with two other doors. Behind one was a small room with a loom, a sofa, and a few chairs. There was one window and a door at the far end of the room, but Dustin wanted to check the other door in the vestibule. Ty went into the small room, and he and Dustin tried the doors. Both opened into a dazzling room, with windows on two walls and mirrors on the others. The boys had entered through doors disguised as mirrors, and they saw another such door at the far end of the room. The next rooms was a large room decorated in red, followed by another room that looked like a small chapel or something. After studying the next room--all white with a large table, the boys found what they were looking for: a door that led outside. There was a long porch there, open on both sides--something called a "peristyle". On one side, there was a garden; on the other, a sort of driveway or courtyard. There was another door opposite this one, and judging from the surroundings, it led to more rooms.
