Ending: Fished Up
Colin groaned in pain as his vision shifted out of a sleepy grog. He guessed that he had been out for ages now, but... he was in a river the last time he checked, and this was a cot in a room with metal walls. It rocked back and forth as Colin realized he was on a boat.
A man stepped into the room wearing coveralls adorned with Japanese text. His brown eyes widened in surprise as Colin stood up.
"Do you speak English?" Colin asked.
"Yes, that's why they sent me here. We found you unconscious on a hunk of driftwood in the bay." the man replied.
Colin sighed in relief before asking, "Wait, the bay?"
"Yes, you were drifting out there. I'm sorry to tell you this, but we must head away from here, a mass quarantine has been ordered. We will be heading back to Tokyo." the man explained.
'Well, I always wanted to go to Tokyo, but not like this...' Colin thought as he was invited to the mess hall.
Colin explained everything to the crew with the help of the japanese-english speaking Jurano. The crew just looked down in fear.
"What?" Colin asked.
"We got a distress signal from a passing ship... a man pleading for help, then there were women giggling profusely as the man screamed... then his voice stopped, and all we heard was the women giggling... we thought it was a prank." Jurano said solemnly.
"When was this?" Colin asked.
There was a dead silence, and then Jurano said a chilling sentence.
"It was when we were leaving port."
The crew looked on in fear and doubt.
"Only one way we could possibly know..." Jurano said as they incresed engine power and moved across the waves...
