“Wait!” the tiny fae exclamed before I could say a word, “There’s a bit more to my spell. Because this is going to be quite intertaining, I added the ability to change any statue, either animal or not, to become the real deal. Basically meaning to become real live whatevers.”
This sort of conserned me. That part was obviously not in the original wish.
“Um, ok.” I said, adding ‘I guess’ in my mind.
“I just wanted to make things more fun,” the leprechaun pouted.
“No, no that’s fine!” I said quickly.
“Well then,” she stated, looking up at me with the biggest smile I have ever seen. Now what was she up to?
“Hold on,” I said finally just thinking about it, “What is your name?”
She grinned mysteriously, “Charleen.”
“K”, I replied, “Now what to do first...”
Suddenly I remembered the statue I had sitting on my room desk.
It was a mythological animal called; if I remembered right, a
Cheetah-dragon-eagle.
[ Note: I have written about these creatures in the past if anyone recognizes them. ]
I wondered to myself what it would be like to have one of these in real life, maybe as a pet or something.
According to the passage on the card that came with it, they grew to be about 4 inches more than an actual cheetah, and about 2 times that length was their wingspan.
Now something that big, would be able to be ridden!
Carefully, I brought the figure back into my living room.
“Ooooo!” Charleen exclaimed in excitement, “Now that looks like a worthy specimen!”
Who knew leprechauns got this exited about their own wishes?
I suppose it would be sort of boring, only granting other peoples’ wishes...
“Sooooo... how do I make it come alive?” I asked, feeling somewhat embarrassed that I didn’t already know. But hey, you don’t want to mess up, right?
“Oh that part is quite simple, to someone who knows of course.” she pointed out ( luckily catching herself before she smirked I noticed ).
“All you have to do is place your hands on the item or thing and then say the chant: Herirh meth, nw comith te livfe! Translated to: hear me, now come to life!” she finished.
“Right,” I commented.
I looked over at the statue.
Here goes.
Placing my hands over it, I repeated the magical chant.
... ... ...
... ... ...
For a little while, nothing happened.
I was beginning to think that the leprechaun had tricked me when we both heard a splintering sound...
The statue
was cracking
by itself.
I braced against the wall, waiting to see what would happen.
Breathing hard from pure fright, my eyes looked upon the figure which was now growing and gaining color by the second.
Charleen looked on with wonder; perhaps even she didn’t know the full extent of her powers.
With a ripping like sound the last metal fragments of the statue bust into the air! Then landed safe and sound on the ground.
Staring at the framents I caught a glimpse of two, huge eagle-taloned feet.
Oh no. What was I thinking?!
How in the world was I supposed to train and command such a humongous mythilogical creature?
‘Even when Erigon was able to ride the mighty dragon Sufeara ( in the movie and book: Erigon ), he still had the advantage of being able to hear her thoughts.’ I remembered, knowing I had most definitely made a big, and I mean BIG, mistake.
The Cheetah-dragon-eagle on the other hand, er... claw, looked confused.
Turning dramatically, I stood before me and paused...
