The massive cloudwood gates creaked with age as Ilvir slowly pushed them open, heaving with both arms to push them open enough for him and Kitty to get through. Thankfully their elementary cloud properties allowed Ilvir to open the gates without to much extended effort, allowing Ilvir and Kitty into the city.
Inside the first wall layer, Ilvir and Kitty were once again amazed by the massive city before them, being inside only reconfirming their opinion. The entire city blazed with a sort of sheer magnificent at the incredible architecture. (similar to that of a ancient Roman city). However at the same time Ilvir also get a sense of intense isolation in the city. The city itself was in ruins, far in the western side a large portion of the outer wall has been completely demolished, the rest of the city faring no better. Despite the hints of its former glory, barely anything stood without a fracture or break.
“So this is a ruined city huh Kitty?” Ilvir quietly said to Kitty. The feline purred in response.
The two were in a sort of tourist area, from what Ilvir could see, there were many remanents of inns, shops, and markets, all originally purposed to entice newcomers to the city to purchase their wares and services, although anything of major value was already gone, and had probably been gone for a long time.
Walking through the outer layer of the city only fed Ilvir’s feeling of slowly growing paranoia. The city, something Ilvir knew should’ve been filled with the huddle bussle of people and noise, was maddeningly quiet. Kitty’s presence was the only thing that was keeping Ilvir sane at that point.
“Something... something is wrong here Kitty... as a paladin, this shouldn’t be making me nervous whatsoever.” Ilvir said, more to himself than Kitty.
Kitty clearly sensing Ilvir’s increasingly worrying mental state, tried calming him down the only way she knew how. The purple mountain lioness rubbed against Ilvir’s unerect memebers trying to coax Ilvir’s arousal yet could only meet frustration as nothing, not even taking his meme era into her mouth, could cause the cocks to harden even slightly.
Kitty mewled at her creator, yet Ilvir was in a different place now. Ilvir stood completely motionless, his eyes wild, his pupils constantly shrinking and growing. Kitty mewled louder in concern, not knowing what was wrong with Ilvir.
Ilvir knew exactly what was wrong. All he New was that he had an urge to go somewhere. Yet he didn’t know where. All around him wisps of shadows were taking shifting into humanoid forms, crying with anguish as their details became more lifelike. The human shadows started shambling their way towards Ilvir who could only stare in fear.
He didn’t know why but Ilvir felt a deep anguish coat his soul. He recognized none of the faces around him yet he himself felt fully responsible for their deaths. As if he, a paladin sworn to protect, had personally slaughtered all of them one by one. Ilvir couldn’t see Kitty anymore and was on the brink of cradling himself on the floor. Then that mysteriousfeeling of needing to go somewhere finally cleared. The central palace of th city. Ilvir realized.
Ilvir looks south towards the central area of the city and could see the glimmering spires of what he assumed was the main palace that governed the city mostly obscured by the gigantic walls in his way.
I have to go there. Ilvir thought. And that thought quickly became Ilvir’s sole obsession
Ignoring Kitty and the shambling shadows, Ilvir suddenly rushed through the streets towards the central palace. Kitty gave a startled cry and Ilvir’s sudden movement, before realizing her master had left and began chasing after him, not wanting to be far apart.
Ilvir’s magically powered granite legs took him running at a beyond human speed, though not faster than Kitty.
As Ilvir focused his mind solely on going to the central palace who he had suddenly been aware of it’s existance, felt the ground below him disappear, and only realized the gaping hole he had ran into at the last second. Ilvir gave out a crazed scream as he fell into the pit.
Kitty seeing her master fall into the hole and not being the smartest animal around willingly jumped into the hole, hoping for even the slightest chance to help her master.
