So you choose to walk on the wild side.
You have gotten turned into a magical creature, a dragon, but even after being cruelly cast out by your family, you had such alternatives as either seeking sanctuary in a familiar friend or looking for comfort in the form of an authority figure. Instead, now that you have gotten plunged into this magical world, where little boys can suddenly turn into dragons, you are seeking out more magic.
As you approach that witchy-looking bookstore from its back entrance, you can see the witch tilling the soil in the small garden plot in the back of it, perhaps planting more of the strange herbs that line the shelves on her front porch and which also hang in her windows. The ones she is planting now might have spooky names like "devil's claw root" or "horehound."
Or maybe she is just planting some posies.
Anyhow, she soon finishes whatever she is doing, and she goes back inside.
If you hurry, you can break in through the back entrance and catch the witch by surprise, but if you choose, you may try entering through her front door as if you were a regular customer.
You might be more likely to get what you want out of the witch if you can catch her off-guard, but she might also retaliate.
If you enter her company as a customer, though, you are certain that there will be some sort of a price.
