Jen lay there, listening to her mistress snore, and she tried to figure out how to reach her.
"Shiva..." Jen thought, another twitch of the ears.
"Shiva..."
"SHIVA! WAKE UP SHIVA!" Jen shouted in their head and Shiva's eyes shot open, she looked around trying to find the source of the sounds.
"Shiva! Can you hear me?"
"Oooooo." Shiva responded.
"Well that at least worked. Can you think like I do? Can you speak to me?" Jen asked desperately, hoping that reality wouldn't be cruel. After several minutes of confusion and fear, Jen heard a deep and powerful woman's voice respond inside her mistress' head.
"What... is.... speak?"
"That's what you just did Shiva! You just spoke to me!" Jen shouted elated that this could happen.
"Speak?"
"Yes, it's what you're doing now." Jen started to worry. After a very long pause she had given up, then Shiva spoke again.
"Who... are... you?" Shiva asked, "I... am.... Shiva."
"I'm Jen..." Jen reached up and touched her muzzle, "...your body. We are one." Shiva stared trying to think of something to say, her animal intelligence slowly gaining more vocabulary as her mind expanded, her memories started to make more sense and she realized that part of her mind was another person.
"Your body... is mine now? Why?" Shiva asked, "There was and accident..." Jen decided to go with reality since it would be what was accurate, "..we are stuck together."
Shiva thought for a few minutes and then panicked trying to pull in all directions. "THE HUMANS! THEY'LL BE HERE SOON! THEY PUT US IN A MACHINE AND BAD THINGS HAPPENED! WE NEED TO GO, NOW!"
"Shiva..." Jen reached up with both hands and took Shiva by the muzzle, calming her down and guiding her eyes to look at her body, "...the bad thing already happened, you're part human. I lost my head to yours." Shiva stared at her body, taking in her supple human skin, trying to figure out what happened, trying to touch her new body, finding that she couldn't move.
"Shiva."
"I killed you... I'm sorry."
"No, you didn't kill me, your part of me now, and I'm part of you... I can't control you, and you can't control me. We have to live like this." Shiva tried to register this, her now human intelligence rose a few more points and it clicked. "You're taking care of me now?"
"I'm taking care of us. And yes Shiva, I'm your body now, we'll have to figure everything out as we go along." Shiva huffed loudly "You said it Shiva, you said it."
