While the tests were being processed, Wanda and Sherry went over to the gym for some physical training. Namely, they were learning how to use their new bodies for self-defense. John was the one putting them through their training. It wasn't just about how to throw a punch, but how to hold back on one so that their bigger muscles and bones don't end up killing someone. Learning how to charge would be for a different lesson and the two of them would be doing different techniques. While Wanda was like the other rhinos, albeit hairier and a bit larger, Sherry was a different story. Her nose horn was much smaller than that of a rhino. It was a bit unclear of Triceratops could use their nose horns for battle, but Sherry's was clearly more ornamental. It would be the two horns on her brow that'd be weapons, so she would need to learn her charging from a bull, which had similar horns. Her tail could also be a potential weapon. Much longer and thicker than the rhino tails, it could be used to knock people off their feet, though that would require another type of trainer.
Eventually, Sudan came in with both tests in his hand. "Well, I've looked them over and had the machine scan them and there is no question. Sherry was able to pass her test, but I'm afraid Wanda just came up short," he said.
Wanda gave a small groan in disappointment. The test was a bit harder than she had though. But then again, she was a firefighter before, not a police officer. Sherry had the clear edge due to being relatively fresh from the police academy before her bone cancer was discovered.
Sherry patted Wanda on the shoulder, which probably would have been jarring for someone smaller. "Cheer up, Wanda. This isn't your only chance," she said.
"Indeed," said Sudan, "But she will need to be taking the crash course. You'll have a week to go over the material before you take the test again."
"And I can help her study for it," said Sherry, "I'd like to take it again so Wanda won't have to study alone. There's no rule that we can't help each other study, right?"
John and Sudan exchanged a glance. "Well, no. There's nothing keeping you from helping each other. But you will be taking your tests separately."
"I'll take as much help as I can get," said Wanda before turning to Sherry and saying, "Just don't call use 'study buddies' or anything like that."
"Whatever you want," said Sherry. She had a feeling getting through Wanda's gruff, psychologically-scarred exterior was going to be the real test for her.
