While Beth and Luke winning the Chinese Year of the Dog Pageant was unexpected, there was a lot of things that were coming to Animalia that were unexpected:

"You know those internet 'dweebs' are going to request mudwrestling as an event for the Mister and Miss Farmhand Pageant." said Harry at the next debate over the Pageant that had been suggested.
"Yeah, I know that." answered Bambi, "But one of the things they were requesting was that there are NOT any events such as 'callus toss' or 'elongated toenail competition'."
"Say what?!" asked Harry, incredulously.
"It's from the cartoon episode that the original name for the competition was originally from." said Bambi, definitely putting those two events into the 'NO!' column. "While they are requesting events such as 'hay bale toss' and 'firewood splitting'."

"Camille," said one guy from the new PR-MD of Camille after one of her shows, "Someone got this together for you to test for our insectivore Animalians."
"What are they?" asked Camille upon seeing the small paperboard box filled with large, amber-colored, not-sure-whats.
"They're filled honeypot ant workers from Australia. Apparently they're an occasional foodstuff to the aboriginal Australians. Ben and Tyree want your-" said the member, but stopped short when he saw Camille's eyes locked on the box.
Shortly after Camille snared a few of them and chewed on them, she gave the review, "They're good for sweet protein without anything artificial." She also reported something that most Animalians with long tongues and greater control, "You're not going to believe how many requests some of us are getting for 'tongue-jobs'. While I have better control over my tongue than others, I don't have that much control."
"Duly noted." said the PR-MD representative.

While Beth was happy at winning, she then learned the "penalties" of such fame. While the requests for contracts and/or endorsements were appreciated, the requests to date were less so. Some of the would-be Romeo's could be genuine "maybes", while others were genuine "creeps" that knew of no life outside their parents' basement, even without the bad one-liners.

"So what is Project Dinotopia working on now?" asked Dr. Stein, after updating the "request manifest" for the victims from China.
"The next one we need data on is the Oviraptor." said the research scientist. Oviraptors were so named when the first fossil of such a creature was found on top of what was thought to be a nest of protoceratops eggs, and so was thought to be an egg thief. It wasn't until later that it was determined that the eggs she was found on top of proved her not to be a greedy thief, but a proud mother.
"So do we have a volunteer?" asked Dr. Stein.
"Miko, from Japan, was originally a really good looking girl in the 90s, but her body was ravaged by at least three different cancers, and so destroyed her body, both from the disease, and from the treatments available at the time. She also wants to be recombined with the Gigantoraptor subspecies, mainly because of the main specimen that was on display in Japan."
"Be sure to fast track her to ASM, as well as keep tabs on what her diet may require, so paleontologists can be definitive on what Oviraptors eat." replied Dr. Stein
