Gloria's next day started off well enough. Mr. Harris's class was interesting. Derrick continued to teach the class expertly. At the end of class he pulled Gloria aside to apologize for frightening her. "Claudia wanted me to keep an eye on you not tell you," he said sheepishly. Gloria had laughed it off and thanked Mr. Harris for keeping an eye on her and her friends.
As school was getting close to ending Gloria now found herself walking through the hall. As she niw passed Mr. Harris's classroom she could hear two voices inside. Slowly she peaked in, noticing Mr. Harris and Miss Dean talking. Gloria niw strained her ears to hear what they had to say.
"Cant believe you actually got into teaching," Morgan stated. "I thought you were thinking of being an architect."
"Tried it and didn't like it,"Derrick said flatly. "History always interested me sooo this just seemed like a natural fit."
"How your folks take it?"
Gloria could see aderrick smile as he looked at Morgan. "Well you know the Major," he grumbled. "He started going on about how I was wasting my talents. Especially since Julia is a doctor and Cole is freaking Captain America."
"God you are such a middle child," Morgan laughed. "You always did that when we went out. Always grumbling about Cole, Julia and Claudia. You always talk about how they could never get in trouble."
"Well its sort of true," he smiled.
The two teachers now smiled at eachother letting a long silence pass between them. "So what about you Morgan," Derrick asked. "How was college?"
Morgan sighed and smiled as she looked at Derrick. "It was fun," she sighed. "I enjoyed Vasseur so much. The experience was everything I could of hoped for."
"Ill bet," Derrick said bitterly.
Morgan sighed sadly as she now looked at Derrick. "Derrick," she sighed. "I'm...I'm really sorry about how it ended. I had such a wonderful opportunity ahead of me. What I did was best for both of us."
"No it was best for you," he muttered. "You dumped me after graduation because you wanted to experience everything college had to offer with no strings attached. Those were your words not mine."
Gloria watched as Morgan lowered her head sadly. "I know, I know," she muttered. Morgan smirked as she now looked at Derrick. "You always were the best bullshit detector."
"Its a gift," he said smugly. "And besides after dating you for two years I got pretty good at it."
Morgan laughed as she playfully socked Derrick in the arm. "Jerk," she giggled. "But your right I was way too full of myself back then. So glad you kept me humble."
Another silence now hung between the two as they gazed at eachother. "I missed you Morgan," Derrick said quietly. "We were....really good together. I...ugh this is dumb, I....thought you might of been the one."
Gloria watched as Morgan's eyes bulged. "I...I..didnt know," she whispered. Derrick shrugged as he now looked at Morgan. "I know its stupid," he mumbled. "We were kids for gods sake. I don't know, guess I'm just a hopeless romantic."
Morgan smiled as she now leaned in and tenderly kissed Derrick. "I'd say hopeful," she said shyly. The two adults now blushed as they looked at eachother. "So any plans tonight," Morgan asked.
Derrick shrugged and smiled. "Not really," he said. "Had to move back home when I couldn't get a full time gig. Just another dinner with mom and dad."
Morgan rubbed her chin thoughtfully as she looked at Derrick. "Think they would mind if you had company?"
Derrick smirked as he stood up and took Morgans hand. "No not at all."
Gloria ducked behind a locker and watched as Derrick and Morgan made their way out of the classroom. Smiling she now now quietly made her way towards the bus, excited to tell her sister and her friends about Derrick and Morgan.
