Living on the edge of an old-growth forest, deer were common in the gardens of the neighborhood Jen lived in. She would commonly wake up to see deer at the edge of the forest, dashing to and fro and munching on their grass. Today was no exception.
As Jen raced onto the sidewalk, she looked around. As she turned around, her gaze met the eyes of a young doe eating leaves from her bushes. The deer quit eating, turning around to face Jen as she ran, out of her own control, towards the innocent creature. She soon found herself petting the deer, causing the curse to come into effect. She pulled the head of the deer off, stowing it under her arm as she took her own head in her hands. She watched as her body placed her head on the neck of the deer, then taking the deer head and putting it on her body. She tried her best to call out as her body ran towards the forest, realizing she was probably never going to get her body back...
She sat down on her four legs, crying. She couldn't believe it! The curse was real, and she was stuck as some woodland creature! She couldn't stop crying, wondering how her day would be with this new body, that is until she felt a comforting hand begin to brush her back. She looked up to see her friend Dani petting her, asking, "Jen, are you alright?"
"No! Why would I be, I'm stuck in this... this deer body!"
"Jen, that's just how you were born. Why are you so upset? You've never expressed dismay at this before."
"R--r-b-but I was human! I was a human 5 minutes ago!" she stammered.
"No... no you weren't, you've been this doe for as long as I can remember."
"R-really?" she said, realizing that maybe her life wouldn't be ruined with reality shifting to her new form, her tears drying up.
"Of course, dude," she said, dabbing at Jen's tears. "Now let's get you to school."
Jen got up, walking alongside her friend. She noticed she was quite low compared to her friend, barely coming up to her elbows. Soon they arrived at Dani's car, crawling instinctively to the backseat as Dani left it open for her, closing it behind her. Soon they arrived at school, people teasing her lightly by saying, "hey, Bambi!" She laughed it off, ready to see how her first classes had changed with her new form...
