Jeff stood still for a moment, not knowing what to do, he could hear his brother's footsteps above him, walking through the living room, towards the hallway and the kitchen.
Jeff calmed down, its not like the first time Jason had come home to visit. He had gone off to college nearby and came by every once in a while to visit and get his clothes washed.
Jason and Jeff were brothers, but they was little resemblance. Whereas Jeff, 16, was a taller 5'10", Jason was only about 5'6". Jeff had brown hair, and Jason's was nearly black. Their faces were very different in appearance, but there was a small resemblance, and they were both the same body type: skinny.
Jason was a pretty small guy for his age, he had always been that way. He was a nice guy, a little quiet, but friendly.
Jason seemed to stop moving around. Jeff heard a chair move, and then he could hear Jason sit in it.
Jeff wondered what he could do with his Chronovac. "i wonder if this thing can scan through walls....". Jeff positioned the Chronovac's little scanner at the ceiling, almost directly overhead and asked the device to scan. Within a second Jason's stats appeared on the Chronovac screen, minimalizing the options Jeff had selected to the bottom of the screen.

then it went on to more advanced details listing the proportions of the head The length of nose, of the mouth, of every little minor detail imaginable.
"holy shit, this thing is crazy" he muttered. Jeff looked up and down, and opted to go back to the top. there he saw that the details like height, weight age, etc, were all clickable. He decided to click weight and a new screen showed up.
It listed his current weight at top, and had two scrolls underneath it, and a blank box next to the scrolls. The horizontal scrolls were both pre-set in the middle. The two scroll were very simply listed as:
"FAT"
and the one underneath that:
"MUSCLE"
He then decided to move the first scroll a little to the right, just to see what happened. He noticed as he moved it back and forth a little note appeared above it listing the percentage, going all the way from 5% to 100% in intervals of 5%. He noticed if he moved the scrolls to the left the percentages went into the negative.
"huh" he said aloud.
The box next to the scrolls stated: WEIGHT CHANGE.
"i could have a little fun with this"
Jeff quickly moved the scroll on the fat over to 20%, and then selected 20 pounds.
To his surprise, the moment he added a weight, the second scroll, the one containing muscle, moved, all the way to 80%, automatically.
This of course, confused Jeff at first, but he then realized why it was the case. the device could not just add 20 pounds, have 20% of it be fat, and then have the rest be nothing... to had to be one or the either. So, then, a person could have a gain of 5 pounds being 100% muscle, or 100% fat, but not both.... it made sense.
What to do... Jeff wondered... Meanwhile, he could hear his brother in the kitchen above eating lunch....
