With an hour of free time, Umbren figures that he might as well accustom himself to his new surroundings. Setting his travel pack on in his room, Umbren took the bedroom stairs up, noticing that like Marga had said, the stairs themselves completely skipped the ground floor of the building, instead going straight up to the second floor of the structure.
The second floor was mostly comprised of a large but modest living room, most of the space being taken up by the big dining table with four seats and the main fireplace that stood in the center of the room’s west wall. Most of the furniture was an antique in someway. Despite being well maintained, Umbren could practically see the dust on some of the chairs.
I suppose this is comfortable enough, much better than what I’m used to atleast. Umbren thought has he remembered his old home, how he was usually told to only go out of the house at night or when the streets were mostly empty. Then Umbren remembered the pure luxury he encountered at the palace of his Patron Anubis, all of that on top of the promise of becoming as powerful as some of the greatest heroes in the world.
At the thought of Anubis, Umbren could almost feel his thoughts become sexual in nature, although he cleared them out before he showed any physical sign of lust, there was a time and a place for everything afterall.
Wanting to explore more of the house, Umbren continued to look around the room, his thick leather boots gently thudding on the wooden flooring of the room as he gently dragged a single finger against the wall as he walked, familiarizing himself with the overall feel of the room.
There were five more doors branching off from the common room, two of them being separate doors leading to Marga and her son’s room respectively. Another door led to a small storage room filled with grain and supplies like wood and clothing, whilst the door next to it opened to a staircase presumably leading down to the ground floor. Umbren decided against peaking in Marga or her son’s rooms, and instead decided to check out the last door, which was in fact a bathroom.
Going inside, he saw that the bathroom itself, containing a cabinet and a large stone bath tub, one that was mysteriously already filled with fresh warm water.
Curious, Umbren inspected the bathtub and noticed multiple arcane sigils enscribed onto the tub.
While he couldn’t read or identify them, Umbren guesses they kept the bathtub filled with water and kept the water itself at a warm temperature.
“Interesting... I suppose this is for me then...” Umbren thought, remembering Marta’s words about him being free to take a bath whenever he wished.
Should he take a bath? He wasn’t particularly tired or worn out. In fact despite it being his first day on his trial, he hasn’t really gone through much at all, at best he spent a few hours walking around in the middle of the day.
On a whim, Umbren decided to...
