The twin unicorn mares trotted up to their stallion, nuzzling his sides with affection. The male rumbled his approval, glad to be rid of those two pesky humans and to be given instead such comely females. Compared to their delicate frames, he looked positively huge especially when confined to the restricting space of the stables.
Surveying his surroundings, he snorted in disgust. A good part of the elf’s natural disdain for pretty much everything had carried over into a general sense of discontent. Such a ridiculous human structure filled with their inferior beasts was no place for a majestic unicorn such as himself, and he had half a mind to storm outside in broad daylight, come what may. However, his instinct to stay hidden kept him from acting on this impulse.
Glancing down at his fawning mares, he felt a wave of protectiveness overtake him. No, he would not endanger his herd in such a way.
Well, perhaps “herd” was not the right word for just a couple of mares. Usually, such a big stallion would rule over a group much larger than this. This thought brought another imperative to his animalistic mind. He needed more mares!
His horn glowed a bit, and he faced the stable entrance with new purpose. Whatever these humans did to bring him to this wretched location, they would pay for the indignity. They would pay with themselves, providing him with a proper herd and rescuing this land from yet another human infestation.
