A wiry human dressed in light, somewhat mismatched armor no doubt pilfered from various sources entered the stables. “Henric! Darvane! Lukas! Where’d everyone get off to!? We have to get going before that blasted dwarf drinks himself into a-”
Suddenly, the rogue stopped and stared.
Standing there looking back at him, as still as a picture, the three white unicorns practically glowed even in the stable’s dark interior.
Hand automatically drifting to his dagger, he eyed the other stalls with suspicion. “What? Unicorns? Here? What’s happening?”
As if in response, the larger unicorn at the center of the trio backed away into the farthest stall. Silently, the other two followed until they vanished from sight. For a second, the man almost doubted what he had witnessed. Seeing a unicorn was already a once in a lifetime thing, and to see three at once…
Curiosity overtaking him, the rogue followed them, bringing out his weapon, just in case. Unicorns were not known to be dangerous, but their horns fetched a hefty price if one were fortunate enough to find one. With three trapped here at the same time, it seemed he had hit the mother load.
Stepping into the stall, he saw that this had not been a dream. There they waited, perfect and beautiful. And so, so valuable!
So entranced was he by the experience that he missed the glow from the big unicorn’s horn. The two mares, understanding through their connection to their mate what his intent was, also lent their magic to the stallion’s spell. With this double boost, the magic washed over the human with incredible force, causing him to change almost instantly.
The rogue had little time to say, “Wha-?” before his body was utterly transformed. In a split second, his clothing burst off him, evaporating before the pieces hit the ground. His pale shape blurred, and time seemed to slow down for a moment before things snapped back into focus again. There in his place stood another lovely unicorn mare swaying on her hooves as the last of the magic reshaped her confused mind. A heartbeat later, even that had finished, and the newest unicorn joined her two fellow mares in fawning over their mate.
