The figure (who Harold now knew was named Theo) nodded, and in the window, a group of humans cheered. He took out several bottles, spraying them one by one.
"YOU ARE VERY LUCKY AND VERY IMPORTANT, YOU ARE BEE IN BODY AND NOT IN MIND, DO YOU REMEMBER THE BLAST? HAVE YOU *garbled*?"
The last bit felt like a mishmash of words and sounds, like the babbling of a newborn, but Harold could pick out 'REGRESSION' and 'MENTAL'. He was probably asking her if she'd Gone Native. She shook her head, before remembering that that wouldn't really work in her state.
"NO, I AM FINE, NO THREAT, NAME IS..." -she found that she lacked the 'words' to give her name, so she just spelled it out- "H-A-R-O-L-D. NOT BEE MIND STATE" -She cringed at how butchered that came out, with a part of her mind informing her that she'd be able to better express herself if she moved her body- "WHERE AM I?"
The scientist sprayed various bottles back, and perhaps it was her getting used to the scents, but she found that she could understand it better, as well as it not blaring in her mind.
"You are at *garbled*, there is no danger. You have been hit with a *garbled* blast, and you are now a bee. You are very rare in that you still have your human mind. Only 13 others have retained their minds from the blast, all of them *THREAT TO HIVE*. There is no current cure. We want to help you, and we will not hurt you. You will be given a series of tests, and if passed, you will help us seek a cure. We need your permission to continue. Do you C-O-N-S-E-N-T?"
Harold wasn't given much of a choice: either undergo experiments, or what? Lose her mind? Get swatted? Still, it was her decision...
