Considering Lent was based on a lunar calendar, it could be rather unpredictable about when it took place. This year, for instance, the beginning and ending of Lent happened to overlap with other holidays with set dates. Ash Wednesday happened to be the same day as Valentine's Day and Easter just happened to be the first day of April, as in April Fool's Day.
As such, the traditions of both holidays overlapped in several amusing ways. Most prominently were the Easter eggs that held things other than candy. One particularly noteworthy example was a demonstration of one of the origins of April Fool's Day. While there are several different roots for associating the first of April with foolishness, perhaps one of the oldest reason, as with Halloween and Christmas, lay in pagan customs. In olden times, the year officially began with the arrival of spring and a celebration lasted from the spring equinox to what is now the first of April. Those who had changed to a calendar where the new year started in January mocked their 'backwards' neighbors for celebrating New Year's so late in the year.
A demonstration of Pagan celebration involved a few Animalians dressed in fur clothing and chanting around a heavily-decorate pole to stand for their idol. A group of humans representing early Christians approached the pagans with a large Easter egg. "Greetings, neighbors," said one of the pagans, "Happy New Year."
"New Year was three months ago, but here's a present for you anyways," said one of the Christian, handing over the Easter egg.
"We're celebrating the resurrection of our Lord," said another Christian.
The pagan who received the egg opened it up, only for several fake snakes to spring out and startle the pagans. The Christians laughed and yelled, "April Fools!"
Of course, pagans were probably not the type to take a joke very well. As such, it wasn't long before the Christians were tied up to the pole and the pagans were now chanting, "Now who's laughing? Now who's laughing?"

Asides from the pranks, there was still plenty of Easter going on. The egg hunt kept the kids pretty busy and the eggs that didn't have pranks in them did have safe Animalian-friendly candy in them. The boiled eggs laid by chicken Animalians were also being painted. And of course, there was a big feast for humans and Animalians.
One of the bigger differences from last year's Easter was the party going on at the Meat Market. Keeping with the holiday theme, there were a lot more rabbit dancers there than usual. Even the workers who weren't rabbits were dressing up like Playboy bunnies. One of the best examples would be Shyra. Rather than be dressing up like a Playboy bunny, Shyra was dressing up like Jessica Rabbit. She had a rather strong resemblance to the Toon sex symbol, asides from being a rabbit. She probably have renamed herself 'Jessica' if Jessica Mariana weren't such a prominent member of Animalia. But the older rabbit woman was taking Jessica under her wing to teach her the art of dancing. Jessica and Roger were a bit underage to be at the Meat Market, but they weren't going on the stage.

While summer vacation was still a few months away, there was going to be a reprieve before that. As the weather this year had been a bit colder and unpredictable, spring break was pushed back to April to allow for a warmer, more pleasant chance at vacation. And things were getting particularly exciting because not only were Mieni Atoll and Vilcabamba popular destinations, but the two Africa-based colonies would be opening in time for spring break. The members of Animalia Ambassadoria were eager for their trip, though they weren't certain whether they'd be doing a small world tour or they'd each be going to a separate colony for maximum coverage. Either way, it's something they didn't want to miss out on.
