“Naomi,” Mrs. Yakiyko told her child at the table. Naomi looked over to her mother as she finished eating her meal with her younger sister.
“After school you and I will need to talk about some things.”
“Ohh busted!” Aiko laughed at Naomi who nodded.
“Alright mom.” She nodded. ‘Must be about learning my Drider skills.’ She thought.
Naomi just got back from finishing school. Her mother was in the living room waiting. “Naomi.” She stood up. “It’s time I start to teach you how to be a drider.” Naomi nodded. “We’ll be outside.” She instructed her. After Naomi put way her bag, she followed her mother outside with Yukiko safe in her womb. Once out in the forest they found a good spot. She her turned around and shifted into her drider body.
“Naomi you’ll have to be in your drider body.” Naomi nodded and shifted. She felt her hyper thorax grow out. “Nice and hyper.” She grinned at the sight of her child’s giant thorax.
“Thanks mom.” She blushed. “So, what I am going to be learning?” She asked.
“First.” Her mother crossed her arms. “You’ll be learning how to create silk webbings and setting up traps. Us driders are trappers by nature. While some of use can fight and focus on fighting.” She let the words sink into Naomi. “Our kind only learns to fight after we understand how to be trappers.”
“I see.” Naomi nods. “So, I need to be a trapper before I learn to use my magic?” She asked.
Naomi’s mother laughed. “Not really. Our kind can use our webbing as trapping magic. Do no forgot that.”
“I won’t mother.” Naomi firmly nodded. ‘What a life…’ She thought as her mother began. ‘I'd never thought I'd have a fantasy life.’
From inside the womb, Yukiko watched Naomi getting taught many of the basic traps. But she kept finding her mind going back to what Naomi's father said. ‘Condemning a fellow fairy to this life. I can't do that to them... Or anyone…’
‘Sheena... I hope she is doing good… but she a Magicless…’ Yukiko thought as she started to think about Sheena. She recalled the magicless, how they were the lowest of the low in her world. Tasked with doing everything that all fairies did not want to do. ‘Even being friends with one puts you at risk of not getting a job…’ She thought.
“Say mom, dad mentioned something.” Naomi’s voice drew Yukiko’s attention.
“What is it?” Her mother asked as she was setting up a trap.
“Well since Yukiko. The fairy.” She added at her mother’s look. “Was kind of lonely. He mentioned something along the lines of getting her friends.”
“Oh, like a hunt?” Naomi’s mother licked her lips. Yukiko gulped.
Naomi deadpanned. “I guess but I mean getting another servant to keep her company. Or finding the other fairy you let go.”
“You want to go hunting?” Naomi’s mother smiled.
“Hunting?” Naomi shook her head. “I never thought of it like that.”
Her mother nodded, “Well it is like our trip your father and I take.”
“Is that what your business trips were? Hunting trips?” A worried Naomi asked.
Her mother shook her head, “No. Not all. A few where, but those were to get rid of those that were getting too close.”
Naomi nodded, “Well I want to get Sheena.”
“That fairy?”
“…yes…”
Naomi instantly found her mother hugging her. “You're turning into quite the little hunter!~”
“Mom!” Naomi cried. “But I’m not a hunter!”
“But you are. Granted your human half might have made it so its more for sport for you.” She released her child. “But, from what you are talking about right now. I can see your drider tendencies, slipping through.”
Naomi ended up sighing. “It’s just I only awoke a little while ago into… this life… so its hard to adjust.”
Her mother frowned. “This was one of the reasons I was hoping to tell you what I was sooner, but you were not even able to transform yet and your sight into the magical world was not awoken.”
“Sight into the magical world?” Naomi shook her head. “What do you mean?”
“Well even if I walked down in my current form no one could see me.”
“Like a ghost.”
Her mother turned her head to the side for a second but then looked back at Naomi. “Exactly. Those humans cannot see any magical creature or mythical ones like us.”
“But why are you calling us those humans?” Naomi asked. “I’m a human.”
He mother laughed and shook her head with a look. “No. You’re not a human. You are a hybrid.”
“But!”
“You’re a hybrid. Now I don’t care that you see yourself as a human, but you must also know that you are a drider.”
‘No…’ Yukiko cried. ‘This is not good… i… don’t…’
“Alright I won’t.” Naomi agreed. ‘I guess I can’t fight it. I am a drider as well.’
“Now back to your earlier question. lf you want to hunt that fairy or any more you can go right ahead. BUT! You cannot go into their kingdom or territories. Got it?” Her mother ordered her little girl.
“Understood mom.” Naomi nodded frantically.
