You know it's risky, but you decide the best option is to try to become full-demon. After all, it's not like humans would want to be around a half-demon, they're more likely to kill you than help you. However, demons are another matter. While some would likely kill you without hesitation, if you could find one you could promise benefit to by changing into a full demon, you might just manage to convince it to help you get some answers.
The next few days and nights are spent in an endless monotony of trekking, finding food, and chaining yourself up at night. The closer you get to the lands overrun by demon hordes, the sparser the villages become, so you become less wary about running into people. More and more of your thoughts are instead used to ponder what kind of demon would be best to approach first. Finally, you reach the no man's land between human civilization and demon rule. The sky has a dull grayness to it, and somehow you can feel the demon nature in you getting more excited. You pause at a small creek to fill up your canteen, not certain when you'll find clean water in the barren demon lands. You are so focused on what is to come that you do not notice anything else.
"Hey, you! What are you doing here? Identify yourself!" A voice yells out at you, causing you to drop your canteen and scramble to your feet.
