Set the dagger down, World freezes

The giant sets you down. He frowns then smiles saying, "Since it says we're allies, I guess I trust you."

There is a great silver platter on the table near the witch. You extend your hand to shake hands. She just stares at your gesture uncertain of its meaning. You realize that you're holding the dagger in your other hand still, and that may be off putting. You put the dagger on the silver platter. The witch starts to say something, but suddenly all motion and sound stops. It's weird the witch and giant are like statues now. You talk, you touch them, but they don't respond. The world is eerily silent. Shouldn't there be birdsong, insects buzzing, winds blowing, and other noises? There just aren't. You almost walk into a fly frozen in midair. You stare and gasp. This cannot be real. You pick up the dagger and noise returns. The fly buzzes, the giant belches, and the witch speaks.

"Be careful with the enchanted metal. I allows you to interact with this world, if you lose it you will forget your world and permanently become part of this one, and if you set it in a magical null zone, like this grail, you will pause the game."

"But that's a platter not a grail? A grail is a chalice," you say.

"Huh? Oh, there are folk here that mix it up. The Grail was originally a cauldron, which was used to serve stew or porridge. Then the story of Christ's Last Supper came along, and that the bread plate or platter was magical like the grail. The two stories got mixed together, and the platter began to be called a grail, then the because of the similar shape, the chalice was called a grail. It's the same basic story whether its the bread of eternal life or the drink of eternal life. Everybody wants to be immortal. But being immortal is being out of time, so in this game world the platter or grail will pause the game when you activate it with your dagger. But enough of that for now."

"Your appearance is most fortuitous, as my giant friend and I are both in need of the skills of a thief at the moment," she continued.

"We are?" asked the giant scratching his head. He must've missed something.

You set the dagger back on the platter the world freezes again. You put your hand on the giant's kneecap and say, "Status!"

The same type of rectangle appears over his head, as appeared over you earlier.

Then you walk over to the witch, and cautiously touch her sleeve. She remains immobile. You say, "STATUS."

You are grateful for the pause. It gives you a chance to think. You tap the fly, and say, "Status."

You expect to see a rectangle that simply says fly. You instead see a large rectangle that says:

"Huh?" you say and look around. The fly is not a fly, and it's not your ally. You would like to ask the giant or witch, but this creature is very powerful, even if he's not that smart. Spying? He must be spying on you and your allies. You look at the platter with your dagger on it. You wonder if you're skilled enough to stab a fly with your dagger. The platter's magical null field will allow the game to resume for you the moment you pick up the dagger. Who are Mab and Loki. In your world Loki is the name of a god of mischief, you presume it's probably similar here? But maybe not? You need to ask questions, and get answers. You make up your mind.

You take the dagger off the platter. Then you pick up the platter and swat the fly hard. There is a loud clang as the platter nullifies the magical transformation, as it hits the fly. Too loud for the mass of such a tiny fly.

The giant and witch gasp, as the dazed fly begins to grow to human size. One of its wings is bent awkwardly. It isn't moving. Then its eyes begin to shrink. It's wings fold inward. It's limbs fuse and reshape. The giant fly in a matter of seconds has become a crumpled dazed 19 year old naked human sprawling on the floor under the platter.

"Agrathyn!" the witch and giant exclaim in unison.

"How did you know?" asks the witch.

You explain about the platter pausing time, and the rectangles when you touched the giant, her and the fly, and said
Status. She nods, and races over to a wicker box, and takes out a metallic fishnet. She removes the platter, and places the net over Agrathyn.
